quick question is the d3 beta atm all act 1 or only part
It's about a third in terms of content, no idea in terms of play time. A Wizard has done it in 20 minutes but that is with a lot of practice.

For those interested we have mostly pieced together how act one plays out in terms of major quest content MAJOR SPOILERS
Spoiler below, highlight to read:
start, find leah, kill skeleton king (beta ends)
few different areas then you rescue the Mystic
a few more areas and the seigebreaker boss fight (2008 demo)
find the nephalem cube
jail levels (2010 demo) halls of agony (2010 demo) where you find the jeweller
ferry crossing to Wortham where you find the scoundrel
Spider Queen act boss

I've also pinned down most of the major quests and bosses from act 2 onwards

Are there any plans to Beta PvP? eg Arena's.

95% uptime is pretty rubbish. That means 438 hours (about 18 days straight) of downtime each year, or (if you're really unlucky), 219 days per year (about four days per week) where your internet connection is completely offline for two hours.

You could have an internet connection that is unusable (at least for online gaming) for two hours during peak times each and every day of the year and still have at least 95% uptime.

1/3? lol not even close if a character can do it in 20mins..

So, if one wishes to pre-order this game, assuming that most shops will sell out straight away, where is the best place to do so? I have heard about Australian copies being locked to SEA servers, I guess in this case I would in fact be after an Australian copy, as I don't want to be playing in offpeak times on a US server.

Suggestions?

Has anyone else pre-ordered? CAN you even pre-order at the moment? Are there different versions available (I.e. collectors edition etc or other editions that give you extra stuff).

Semantics much?

Yes, semantics but you are now on his level because you added "much".

:D

So I just saw an email from Blizzard pop up. I shit my pants thinking it was a D3 beta or something cool, but it turns out to be "Blizzard Insider #41 - Deathwing Raid Unveiled".

HNNNNNNNGH

Can this article be considered an accurate experience of the Diablo 3 DRM? (not the game, just the DRM bit)

He seems very ranty/spergy, so I'd rather see what someone else's experiences were like. One thing from there that would genuinely annoy me is the no-pause thing as I am interrupted quite often while gaming.

pausing isn't an issue

in diablo 2 how to pause:

0.5 seconds to kill monsters

OR

start townportalling

easy.

ED: if people are complaining about having to redo posta checkpoint, this is NOT the game for them
3/4 of the fun in diablo 2 is quitting, reloading, and killing shit over again.

Dodoman 22nd September 2011 11:40 PM

Yeah that point was a bit weird, but wouldn't you also lose any items you've picked up since then?

e; Not that it matters... Anything you like you'd probably have equipped already.

nope, since it's saved serverside, every kill is logged even.

Silent Remorse 23rd September 2011 8:27 AM

If you want to pause, just use your town portal stone. You'll have a portal back to the dungeon and will be safe in town.

purehybrid 23rd September 2011 9:56 AM

Lets simplify this.

Diablo 3 is not a single player game. It is a multiplayer online co-op game, that gives you the option not to invite anyone if you're antisocial. It doesn't even SAY "singleplayer".

The people saying "oh, its easy, just add an option to create a totally offline character that can't be used online at all" simply don't understand what that would require. Not only would it remove the anti-piracy effect of having all of this online integration... it would not be "easy" at all. They'd have to develop a completely new system for offline quest tracking, character stat saving, item creation, map creation, and a myriad other things that are no doubt tied together with the online systems.

The entire game has been developed around online co-op play. If the internet was as developed during the days of d1 or d2, you can be pretty sure those games would have the same focus.
