And yes online play is the only way to go

lol :p

It lacks the atmosphere compared to the first time you play D1 through, but it gives it a good go. It's more arcade than diablo1.
Still bucketloads of fun

not enough about d3 has been announced to have some good discussions about it.

witch doctor - necro / sorcerer merge anyone?

Fresh79 3rd July 2008 12:33 PM

I'm guessing Sorcerer on her own. Witch Doctor basically replaces Necro I guess.

Barbarian makes 3 classes. The other two - Rogue/Amazon type of class and who knows? I never cared much for Paladin but there is going to have to be some kinda of healer class.

Hmm
I think they will have a true fighter, a pure mage, and a distance char..
The others would likely be support chars.

Hence, I think they will have the Barbarian, Sorcerer and Archer/Rogue (rogue has been in the past 2 with success, so why take it out!) and then for support they have the Witch doctor and some kind of healing magic/combat support char, like a cleric/paladin type thing.

But, at this stage, one can only speculate!

Jul1an 3rd July 2008 12:44 PM

hopefully the classes will amount more than 5.
the fact that you can only customize the sex of your class is a bit dissapointing but the armor changing for each class is pretty badass but it did the same thing in diablo 2.

Hopefully not. New classes are good, but losing my army of awesome undead minions is very bad.

Witch Doctor has minions!

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some cross-game classes. I can imagine a shaman type class being present and I'm pretty sure paladins will be back.

I'm wondering what they are going to do with 'end-game' content. There is talk that they may be including something like that, but what it will entail, nobody knows. I'm hoping it won't be anything like WoW raiding where you have to play for 2/3/4 hour long sessions to accomplish it.

Nevok 3rd July 2008 1:43 PM

It's fine to take aspects of WoW and implement them in some of your other titles, things like auction houses etc have been discussed and would make a good addition to the game but it needs to stay true to the Diablo way of things. If it starts to become similar to WoW, in terms of itemization and raiding (in which I doubt, I mean at the end of the day WoW is an MMO and it will still be alive around the time D3 gets released, so you still want to have a solid difference between both titles) I'll be disappointed.

Only thing I hate about Blizzard is, when they announce a title all the excitement disappears upon you getting reminding that... it's Blizzard it'll take 2-3 years for it to get released.

I'd say they'll have plans for further expansion down the track. Works for them, works for us. They can respond to any demand if they choose not to include a class and it's sorely missed by many - Just add it in the expansion.

Juggling and balancing more than 5 classes would also only prolong release date, and I'd rather have it released sooner with expansions later than all at once later.
