Only thing I can think of is Port Forwarding, but I had a green light on the installer (aka utorrent).

Both steam and blizzard use torrents.

On blizzards torrent client, more people downloading would have meant a higher download speed. Unless the seeding is location based and aggressively so.

5 megabytes per second or megabits

I was getting 2.1 megabytes on steam (20 Megabit connection)

and 101 kilobytes/s on blizzard.

Were you using direct download or torrent method on blizzards installer?

rereading myself i make perfect sense, first i say 5 meg on my 64mbit connection then i state the max i can get on a 64mbit connection which in the real world is around 7.5meg.

What does it matter, pre load it before it comes out. So long as it's downloaded prior to release, it doesnt matter if you're getting petabytes or kilobytes.

Vaempyr 6th May 2012 4:47 PM

Iím trying to pre-load for the third time; the first time was incomplete, the second corrupted somewhere along the way.

Ravennoir 6th May 2012 5:08 PM

There is a setting in the downloader to limit the bandwidth it uses

Its turned on by default, so turn it off and see if that helps

shouldn't this be completely unnecessary? if you close and re-open the downloader, it checks what's already been downloaded so far. If there was any corruption it should be picked up and that block redownloaded

That’s what I thought … but it didn't, it just started afresh.

All good now though; third time lucky!

Apologies. I didn't mean to come across like that, I think I was the one who was confused. Cheers.

Damn it! How did I miss that, thank you. That will come in
handy for when I have to download it again.

Increase the speed of blizzards download client

whats the rush? you have a week?

Also the reason PvP was delayed is because they haven't built the servers yet.
