you wouldn't do butcher runs just clear the entire act.

be very careful discussing 'sploits as your posts will likely be deleted and may incur bans.

The seller then turns the clock back 2 days, the auction reappears with the 5 minute warning displayed. Press cancel and they get the item back, then collect the gold that was sitting in the completed tab. Collude with a friend to push the price of each auction higher and higher.

Thanks for the clarification

Botting is one thing, but some of these exploits are just poor code - now what's the point - even if they banned the accounts that cheated the gold could easily have been laundered into other accounts by now - making a mockery of anyone who did it properly. Really saps the desire to play, the way inferno currently is its not like you can just ignore the multiplayer or AH aspect of the game - its pretty much required unless the RNG gods have decided to shine on you over and over.

Would be happy If they plugged these holes, wiped everything except character levels and started fresh - but then some douche would just find another hole.

On the Battle.net forums they have come out and said this gold dupe trick with canceling auctions never worked.

We haven't deployed any hot fixes this evening. As far as we can tell the supposed exploit never worked, but we'll continue looking into it. Yes, changing the system clock can change auction times, but that doesnt dupe gold. It's pretty easy to see how much gold people have, and we have no indication anyone has/had that much.

There were several live streams showing the dupe in action.

Dunno, I didn't see the live streams myself so they might be just forum trolls making it up. If it were true, there will be youtube videos soon I bet. There are a lot of really nasty people that troll the official Blizzard forums.

Or the dupe is just a load of shit with no concrete proof that it ever work?

I logged into Diablo 3 and it prompted me to give an answer to a secret question and I'm in.

Not so sure about the full implications. Someone trying to hack my Battlenet account with my email address or something more sinister?

Grrrrr...

Annoying.
