EDIT: actually.. i'm out. Enjoy your circle jerk.

So you can't accept that some of us just couldn't give two shits about having to be constantly connected? Or is it still cool to take to the streets with pitchforks at any mention of DRM or online authentication within the industry?

I have nothing to hide, and thanks to always being online - I don't really care how my games are served up. I understand why you've got the shits because your personal situation out on site makes it difficult (if not impossible). But that doesn't make it a circle jerk just because my own situation allows me to not really give a shit either way.

Look, my heart bleeds for anyone unable to have a semi-permanent connection these days, but you can rest easy knowing that you can play Torchlight and simply crack/hack/imagine playing Diablo 3.

This is less of a circle jerk and more of a right to have an opinion.

Having to be online didn't even blip my radar. I really couldn't give a shit. It might not be a persistent world (though Battle.net is in a roundabout way), and MMO players have had to obviously deal with the same requirement due to the nature of their chosen genre since day dot. Guild Wars enjoyed plenty of success too, and putting that into the persistent world MMORPG category is a big stretch. Battle.net and the future auction houses are just as persistent.

I'm still considering us lucky that they didn't rape us with a monthly sub and go MMO on our ass, which was a common theory a few years back prior to announcement.

If it ain't your cup of tea, or you can't afford it, or you don't have the minimum system requirements (which may include a persistent internet connection) - head on back to whatever IS suitable. Don't sit here in a D3 thread and drown everyone else (who really don't give a shit, they just want to play the game) with your never ending tears and trying to justify over and over again why everyone should make games suited to you and you alone.

Call it a circle jerk, sit smugly about your internet awesomeness, and rip some skin off your e-peen as you rub one out in angst at how Blizzard are the New World Order and are out to piss in your cornflakes.

Seriously, get a grip.

So wait, was your post about the right to an opinion or a chest thumping 'see, I don't care about this stuff so why should you!' post?

Or was is just an attempt to "drown everyone else"?

I can't tell.

This is the perfect time to use the old saying:

"When you argue on the internet, it's like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still just a retard"

Has anyone got the Beta Profile creator to work reliably under Mac OS 10.7?

Mine either crashes, or reports an error when trying to send the data.

Thundercracker 8th August 2011 1:48 PM

Vaempyr are you using the US site? I think it's the only one with the new profile updater.

I have found the profile updater program to be flakey in the past.

This is not too unlike World of Warcraft where the world itself, the art, the sounds, etc. are on your machine, but all of the NPC’s and enemies are controlled by the server

I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet, but i have this sickening feeling that we are going to be subjected to 200ms+ latency even for the single player campaign.

Surely if they are forcing us to always be connected to their server for security we should have local servers :\

I agree on the part of local servers, but i'm not too concerned overall. I played D2 on battle.net single player and multiplayer, was the only way to play without it feeling pointless. I do hope they give us some servers.

Yep, us.battle.net … guess I’ll just keep trying.

We will get an Australian realm just like SC2 but the servers will be in Asia, we will also get access to the other realms because of thats where we use to play.

So expect around 100-200 ping this also means that for the RMT you can pay in AUD for the Australian realm which was the motivation.

Frontl1ne 8th August 2011 8:54 PM

Constant connection !@#$ing sucks. D2 was great because it was THE go-to game when your net was down.

!@#$.

But this does sound good:

Quote:

things like monster randomization, dungeon randomization, item drops, the outcomes of combat, among others, are all handled and verified by the client talking to the server, and vice versa.

if your net goes down in todays competative ISP climate... TIME FOR A CHANGE.

seriously... why are people in such a bloody upraor over continous online connection?
its not 1995. virtually no one has dial up, and those that do arent exactly going to be gaming enthusiasts (read: old people)
i really doubt its going to be downloading terabytes of data or siphoning your bank details to blizzard.

there is no bloody reason to be in an uproar over this. the only valid reason ive seen on any forum is if you're behind a firewall thats out of your hands. and both situations, whether you're at work or at uni, you shouldnt be gaming anyway.
