Default HK-London-Paris-Rome Pics from my Trip

I am currently part way into a 4 week holiday, posting from Florence Italy.

I will try to upload the best photos (iphoto shrunk versions of) to here. For now, I am only going to post one or two as this wireless is horrendously slow and I can't get FTP to work, so I am using OCAU's hosting service for now which will show everything as thumbnails.

Day 1, Kweilin St, Kowloon, Hong Kong, From Hotel. (a bit noisy..)

Will follow this thread with interest ... my wife and I are planning a trip at the end of this year/start of next year, except we'll have a stopover in Singapore, then fly to Frankfurt > train to Paris, then down into Italy

One of eight immortals kneeling before the Buddah, also spot cable car in distance.

That cable car ride would have been interesting, there are many more towers over the hills before it comes down into the main town on the island, the bus goes the long way around (on some fun roads).

Very nice photos, quite link the 2nd last shot of the buddah, tis a shame that HK is covered in smog 24/7 nowadays. On some rare occasions you can see across the harbour from the peak... but very rarely.

Off to the right out of shot in the last landscape is Ngong Ping Monestary, which is worth visiting just as much as the Buddah statue. I recommend buying the ticket for the statue that allows you to go inside the museum at the top and gets you an authentic vegetarian meal at the monestary down below (which was delicious).

A monk.

Moving on now,

from a Kowloon street-scape one day...

...to a London street-scape the next!

Canary Wharf

I've included this one for two reasons, firstly that is a DLR (Docklands Light Rail) train crossing the water between two buildings on the wharf, and that is interesting because the DLR is a 'driverless' system, the operator presses the go button at the start of the route and thats it. Secondly, just out of shot to the left is the Canary Wharf underground station on the Jubilee Line, which f@rmboy posted two pictures of in this thread http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=771730

This photo is from the Latin Quater, outside our hotel (latin as in the scholarly language because the Sorbonne and other universities are located there). Most of the areas inside the Pheripheriqe (ring highway) of central Paris are picturesqe like this. We were also about 800m from Notre Dame (next post).

By the way, I am posting now from Mainz (near Frankfurt) on day 22 having been out of contact while in Rome. Tomorrow night I am heading back to Perth and will be able to upload the rest of the pictures during the week.

Ok I am way too lazy, it's now over a week since I got back.

Here are more photos from Paris, but first a panorama made up of some shots I took in Hong Kong, there are a few better panoramas later in the trip (eg Colluseum)

More shots from inside Notre Dame.

Down the far end is an area with a (relativley) low arched ceiling with several chapels around the sides, this allows you to view the stained glass up close.

Back down near the front door, you get a better idea of the scale (the Duomo in Milan was the biggest I saw on this trip but there is a no photography rule in there, it was even more epic in size inside than Notre Dame and you simply cannot comprehend it without visiting)
