i7 920 C0 @ 3.8GHz (W), ASUS P6T, 2x GTX295 706/1508/1008 (S), 6GB (3x2GB) Corsair TR3XG1866C9DF Triple Channel RAM.

Liquid cooling to come for the cards, see if I can squeeze a bit more out of em :P

Also, notice the temp difference in the GPU's? The bottom set is a single PCB version, the top is dual PCB. So there is a good reason to have single PCB version.

Let me know if I did anything screwy; it wouldn't be the first time, .
AFAIK, if you run anything other than stock test, you won't get a result that is compatible with the inbuilt format. The only options you can change to keep within the parameters of the P, H or X results are the Feature Tests options and the PPU button under the options tab.

If you run the H test, the Res will go to 1680*1050 and you will also get the Anisotropy setting in the Filtering Box along with the other options changing.

If you want a score based on the P setting to compare it with the other "like" results, just run a standard P test without changing any of the options and you will get a comparable result.

The other thing I tend to do with my nVidia card is to leave EVERY graphical enhancing option in the Control Panel on stock settings or "Application Controlled" so the GPU isn't attempting to enhance the settings set by the program that is running. With older games like Battlefield 2, I will wind everything up because my system will handle it, but I've found with Far Cry 2 and Crysis, I introduce issues in the game playability if I try to enhance or over ride the menu options and also lose smooth playability.

Overclocking and Fan Speed would be the ONLY options I would play with in the GPU Control Centre.

Run another test with only the Overclock on your GPU and do a P test in Vantage. You will see that you "SHOULD" get better results without enhancing the image through the Control Centre.

All this is IMO and others may disagree. Hopefully it was of some assistance to you.

curious to know the difference the OS makes ?

Does Win7 give lower results then XP ? Would have to say its like Vista and it definitely does but how much difference does it make ?

You do realise that Windows XP can't run Vantage?

Yep. True... but... 3D '06 should return slightly better results on XP than Vista. I've got better 06 scores on 7 than XP for some reason too. Go Figure.

7 is lighter than Vista even tho it looks, runs and feels better. If you want to "cheat" a little, turn all the "candy" of in your OS (as in run the windows colours and schemes for BEST PERFORMANCE) and test. This frees up some of the CPU usage and returns better results again. Windows looks like the Win 2000, but if you're chasing points, that's my tip
