Ah, come on. I love watching these arguments, its always fun to watch people argue something which they've obviously not done any real research on, and even more fun to watch them crash and burn in a public forum.

I have a PS1, 2 and 3 all in good working order still.
PS1 gets to play all the old arcade games, PS2 gets the old ace combat and GT games, as well as other PS2 only titles (Persona), and my PS3 gets to play Killzone 2, Valkyria, Star Ocean (whenever it gets ported), and BRD

Oh, and it doesn't sound like a jet taking off.

Personally i think the 360 sales could account to the RROD issue with people just buying arcade units so they dont have to wait for repair.

So its a bit unfair to Sony, if Sony released a faulty console then Sony might be up in sales too.

...they have.

Most of the best selling titles (according to VGChartz.com at least) are cross platform ones, so the whole "release some decent titles" seems to make very little sense.

All of these discussions are completely pointless anyway, since we're always comparing "what I like" to "what you like", and history has shown us that these never ever end up in some type of mutual understanding

As above, the only area where Sony isn't winning is in total sales, and that's just because the Xbox 360 has been available for a year longer. They'll probably overtake MS before too long.

Also, I'd imagine that the RROD has helped Sony a bit. If I'd sent an Xbox back to Microsoft three or four times already, I'd really be wondering why I wasn't just selling that and buying a PS3 instead.

Investment, and because game-wise there's really no difference? Friends not having PS3's? There's plenty of reasons.

There are plenty of reasons to avoid moving from an Xbox 360 to a PS3. On the other hand, having a console that works is a pretty good reason to change.

Not defending the failure rate at all, but the time from sending it off and getting it returned is about a week. There's those that have multiple failures which sucks for them, but in my case it worked well first go.

I will buy a Ps3 once (if) GT5 gets released. It's the only reason I'd buy a Ps3. Forza series is the only reason I bought an Xbox 360 though.

Fair enough. That's why I specified that those who had already sent it back three or four times may be reconsidering getting a PS3.

Once or twice isn't a big issue; but after that it'd be getting pretty annoying.

Yep, one of mates just did that, long time Xbox fan, had his third Xbox in to get fixed and has now vowed never to go back, just bought a PS3 and so far appears to be besotted.
