this time not cutting edge technology...
but a projected trend sort of thing now we got cameras with high video capabilities and the general trend of the convergance of everything.. why not have a digital camera (basic quality without telescopic lens) and combine it with video player and mp3 player? if tiny cameras such as panasonic FT1 can handle recording HD video and has a 3" LCD, wouldnt it be perfect to be a video player too? i reckon they could cram enough guts into it to be able to play divx formats etc. memory card these days are massive and could be utilised to store some movies/clip. include sound/3.5mm jack output of course. im sure it could be easily done now by panasonic or sony etc |

I think it would be annoying - cameras are designed for video output not input.
Plus cameras are just too bulky! As an example, the iPod touch does far more than a camera in a tiny body. Sounds like you want an iPhone 3GS The 3.2mp AF camera in it is not too shabby actually, though there's no adjustability.

can those little devices play high quality divx etc? and the ability skip the movie to wherever you left off last time?
iphone is good, but its apple  and has useless camera. n97 small screen and probably not that fast. simply put , i want a panasonic FT1-like thing that i can chuck movies on it and watch it with decent functionality (not 3gp crap) |

![]() hmm maybe i got a workaround. somehow encode movies into whatever format the FT1 records in, and to get around the not being able to fastfoward/skip, i cut up the movie into 5 minute segments. would this work? ... sound is still lacking though |

Don't worry, in a few years you might get your wish, probably sooner. But in a P&S offering. The samsung AMOLED seems to be going in the right direction, have no idea about its media playback/phone capabilities but the camera part seems to be getting there.

hope its robust enough to survive the abuse my mobile phones go through dont know why they dont go for an internal 3x optical zoom lens construction like the FT1 or sony T series etc - the IQ better be good! |
