Hi guys,
I'm thinking about changing to the new tpg plans since I keep getting capped about a week before the month ends and it's very frustrating on slow internet, my questions are if I were to go with tpg adsl what's the best router to use , already had in my mind a Billion 7404VGP and have already switched my telecom provider to Telstra on their $50 unlimited phone calls plan. Would I need line filters if so how many needed and would i need a separate phone line?, I'm not sure how adsl works can anybody please help me, cheers.

I have heard TPG and billion don't liek each other,
Do you currently have a working telephone line in your house? If yes then all you need to do is call up TPG or jump onto their web site and order the service... and they will churn you over to thier system... you need a good modem mayeb an all in one depending if you wan tto use VoIP and other services. I can highly recomend you jump over to whirlpool and ask in there they have reps who can help you out more. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/ as for filters you will need one on each phone/ phone related device (foxtel IQ boxes alarm panels), unless you want to have a central filter installed and a new dedecated line for the adsl run to a room.

Yeah I have a working optus telephone line and optus cable internet atm, the sales rep from Telstra told me that it would be quicker to go on Telstra and then TPG can connect the adsl up quicker, so would I only need one line filter?, what's the benefit and cost difference between and central line filter and a normal line filter and would i Benfit having two phone lines, one for adsl and one for phone ... oh would tpg use the current phone line or install a separate phone line? If they install their own line would I be better off going on a plan with voip?
I'll jump on whirlpool later and create a registration with them, cheers.

You only need 1 phone line service. You need an adsl filter for every connected outlet on the same phone line as the Modem. F.

Save your pennies, you definetly don't need a cisco 877 for a domestic adsl service.
