well msy only list:
Netgear GS605 5 Gigabit Switch / Asus GX-D1081 8 Gigabit Switch 65 / 77

D-link DGS-1005D / DGS-1008D Gigabit Switch 58 / 87

EDIMAX ES-5500P 5P Gigabit Switch 55

TP-Link TL-SG1008D-8Port Gigabit Switch 63

I don't like d-link or netgear, never heard of edimax, don't know much about tp-link either.

I bought a 3com switching hub which supports jumbo frames and has been faultless over the past 2 years, unlike the d-link piece of crap I used to have.

The asus is cheap for an 8 port at MSY though, and the edimax ES-5500P is the cheapest one there and seems the only one that claims it supports jumbo frames , (and if you google it they claim it's green green green!). It could be an unreliable POS though for all I know.
Why must you buy from MSY? I never understood people that choose the shop beforre they buy the product. Do some research, find the best product to suit your usage, price range and asthetics, then find the best supplier for that product.
For me I decided I wanted the 3com switch, then found the best place to buy it from.

fuji, unless you have money and patience to burn, the increase in speed will hardly be noticeable at all. Your average HDD won't be able to spit data out or write data consistently fast enough to use up the full gigabit bandwidth (and in most instances would be lucky to even max-out a 100Mbps connection).

That said, if you want to go ahead, any of the gigabit switches on the MSY pricelist should be okay.

C'mon man, you don't have to ask endless questions, you can do some research yourself after given some info surely?

The 3com switch I have is 2 years old as I said, so no longer sold I bet.
But to put into perspective, a similar 3com one would be about $80, more than the $60 cheaper brands that MSY sell.
Worth it for me as the d-link I had was crap, so Id rather pay more for a better brand.
