I'm also very interested in picking one up for internet surfing and the like..

I'll need it for uni next year. I'm not sure if i should wait untill the new VIA chips are released, which is supposed to be ~ Q1 2010.

Just had a look, can't find the article. From memory they were ~20% faster, and consumed 20% less power.... give or take

I'm worried it'll be too slow. I already crack the sh*ts with my AMD64 3200+...

I was interested in one of these because I'd heard good things about the original NC10. Decided I wanted something with a bit more power though as it would be my full time laptop

The problem with Via is that "released" and "available" are very different things.

If they're released in Q1 2010 I wouldn't expect them to be available before 2011.

Since the NC20 has been released Intel has released their CULV line of processors which are a lot more powerful than the Nano/Atom

While still being slightly more expensive, a CULV based machine will be a lot more powerful and more like a real notebook as opposed to a netbook. Also you get more RAM, bigger HD and windows 7 on most models.
