How do I add items I want to the right side of the start menu?
I know I can change this and that using the start menu properties but I want to add folders and hard drives. I don't really want to use the 'Favourites' option either. Thanks.

If you right click on the Start button you can select:
Open All Users,or Explore All users From there is is just like a system folder and you can move and add things as you like. A great way to tidy up the start menu directories:

Yes. Thanks you but that's not what I'm looking for.
![]() I don't want to sort out the 'Program Files' directory, I want to customize the part of the start menu where 'My Computer', 'My Documents', 'Recent documents', etc, etc are listed. |

I havern't actually tried it, but I assume you may have to do it through the registry.

are you talking about pinning (unpinning) programs from your start menu? google that or go to m$, to see if that is what you want to do? though I think pinning is referring to those entries on the left-hand side of the Start menu?
using WinXP at the moment, so I can't confirm if its the same for Vista/Win7. I thought you can add anything to your Start menu by simply dragging the icon to the Start menu. Also, notice that the items on the right side of the Start menu can’t be removed by right-clicking them. However, you can manage what is on the Start menu by accessing Taskbar and Start Menu Properties. To further configure the Start menu, just right-click an empty area of the taskbar and click Properties, or right-click the Start menu button and click Properties. The Properties dialog box appears with Taskbar and Start Menu tabs. Maybe you can find the appropriate settings there under Customise button. there are settings there to get rid of those folders that you were talking about - on the right hand side of the start menu...

Right click the start menu, click properties, click on Customize button - one of the tabs in there will help you remove My Documents etc and add the Run command etc
