Despite being scratch resistant I don't think I'd lay one finger on a touchscreen device I bought without first putting a protector on!

why? my 2G iphone is coming up 3 years old now and ive never put a cover on it or anything, it's bounced around in the back of my motorbike, it gets thrown in my pocket with keys and change, it generally gets treated just like any old tough nokia and it has nothing more than a few superficial scratches on the screen, none of which can be seen when the device is on...

an ipad with an STM glove or something similar would be enough for me...

Why? Use it, abuse it, insure it. If you drop it and smash it or crack the glass it's insured. Fingerprints? Get a cloth or clean it on your T-Shirt. It's not the Mona Lisa.

Except you can't see screen protectors unlike those images. And when you sell it, the screen is in as new condition

This weeks episode of Media Watch is a special talk with three major players in print media about the future of newspapers online and how the tablets are going to shape its future.

http://www.abc.net.au/mediawatch/tra...s/s2864273.htm

Very interesting, one of the guys thinks it ha the potential to do for print news what iPod/iTunes did for the music industry.

If you have even a passing interest in the new market segments that are going to open up because of the iPad (and related devices) you should really watch this. I honestly didn't realise it was such a huge deal to news publishers before seeing this. It's going to be very, very interesting to see what happens

Agreed this was a very interesting watch. There were good points from both sides as to whether it can save the newspaper industry or not...
