Default Roadside pics

Couple of pics taken while travelling.
Do i have anything composition wise?

1. I thought this tree on the side of the road had some character. Half spooky/half silhouette. And the lines of the road and road-side weeds. What do you think?

2. This area is covered in hand made stone walls. I liked the walls but wasnt sure how to best capture them. Low and wide, a good perspective or not?

I really like #1

The lines are nice as well as the whole tree being in shot.

What is that in the grass on the left of the tree?

Clouds are pretty nice too

I like #1

Not a fan of #2 though - sky looks wayyyyy off. Is that the real sky, cos it looks like a HDR that's possibly been overdone?

Not sure if your referring to the log in front of the tree or a couple of rocks on the far LHS. 100% crop attached.

Maco. Yep, #2 is a HDR but done at a low strength. The sky is strange even in the original, washed out (see below). But i thought the HDR, some contrast and sharpening brought out detail in the fence and foreground grass.

I thought about dodge/burning the sky to make it more normal but wasnt sure if the subject (fence) and angle of the shot was worth the effort.

#2HDR def looks better than #2 original

It would be good to see B&W of #1, but I think the best thing about #1 is the sky, which I hope doesn't lose its effect in B&W

Yes? B&W and slightly upped the contrast.

I tihnk it's better. Much more eerie feel with the black, leafless tree.

#1 needs a little less blue in the sky! the actual clouds, I'm guessing, were white not blue.
Overall it's a great image with leading lines to subject, and subject it self capturing your eye and makes you explore it in detail. B&W works well, but I think in this case colour adds to the overall feel.
