Hi guys,
Just installed windows media player 11 to share media with my PS3. It sees the share fine, but lists very little music... actually i think the only music listed was the Windows XP sample music (Beethoven etc.) Does it not list my MP3s because they don't have DRM or something? I mainly set this up so i can stream movies for my dad... but i threw I Am Legend in a playlist and it's not showing up in the playlist...? I'm not sure on the codec the movie uses, maybe it's incompatible? I'm too lazy to check... but I'm downloading a free app i found called PS3 Video 9 Converter... or something. Hopefully this will convert the movie to a compatible format for the PS3 and I'll be able to see it then? Thanks guys. Regards, Ben |

I cant help you with your Media Player 9 issues but have you tried using PS3 Media Server to stream your files? It's very simple to use and works great.

Don't you have to keep that running in the background to work?
Anywhoo, you can just set your WMP to add a bunch of folders into your library and automatically update. I have a problem at the moment where I can't seem to see the new files I've put into my folders. Do I need to restart my computer in order for my ps3 to see them shared? Anyone help? |

), but that is no different to WMP, Nero Home or any other program. You can run PMS as a windows service, so the overhead is low.

the only prob i would have with PMS is that when watching mkv files that it is very sluggish when forwarding the movie, apart from that a big |

This, but, i think it's the only software that will let you play an mkv anyway, so it's not such a downside. It's the best I've used for a media > ps3 application. So simple to use.

If you want , get winnydows Xvid4PSP to do a real quick re-encode to a .mp4 wrapper and it will then be natively supported by PS3 and wont need to do any transcoding.
