Precurser,
read up a little, using Diskpar to align the disk. Some mentioned using 64 for the alignment or 1024.Tried 64, didn't work, as above. http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...isk#post325221 Plus I'm not really up with all this stuff. Next stop 1024. Last edited by straiton; 19th September 2010 at 4:11 PM. |

Now ye talkin!
This was the number, and i think multiples of it would also work if there was any reason* to do so. After some scrolling down in the page i linked earlier i could see the XP walkthrough, and you seem on the right track. Don't forget to ditch the IDE/compatible mode if possible

Did you try the exact method below? Taken from another thread (in turn taken from OCZ wiki), partition alignment of OCZ SSD for XP: > Insert Win7/Vista 32bit recovery disc (download one here) > Boot from CD > Select language > Select Use recovery tools that can.. > Command Prompt > diskpart > list disk > select disk X > clean > create partition primary align=1024 > active > format fs=ntfs label="eg_SystemDrive" quick > Exit You need to track down and quiz someone with a similar board to get a more accurate description of which option you're looking for, to be certain.

Thanks PreCurser, read the thread and looks to be quite good even though it doesn't state that the trim makes it through the to the array...
TRIM supported as long as drives NOT part of array...

I have an older X300 with s Samsung MLC Hard Drive, the previous owner took the original SLC out saying that he was willing to provide me with a new SSD, however this one is MLC, knowing what I know now I would have kept the 'old' SLC that came with the laptop originally.
This is the MMCRE 64G8MXP-OVB I was considering getting an Intel 2nd Generation 1.8" SSD as the OCZ Vertex Sandforce 1.8" are hard to get (or I have not been able to find one for sale). Would the age of my machine (Intel Core 2 Duo processor LV7100 (1.2 GHz), 4-MB L2 cache, 800 MHz Source-Synchronous Front Side Bus) work against a newer SSD? This is taking ages, like 32 minutes and it has not finished the second teir of tests (4K). I will run the program overnight and post further results tomorrow. Seq 116.34 43.17 4K 0.39

This is my result. From what I have read it's woeful.
The ICH10R on my mobo never detects drives so I am using those purple Jmicron SATA ports. Would that be my issue?

I have now but these readings were done on a fresh install. My previous install was poorly aligned but it made no difference. |

Remember reading the port can make a sustantial difference, are you plugged into the first port?
Suggest you have a look around the OCZ forums, it has info based on experience and testing. Would think they will have you on your way pretty quickfast... |
