Default (CLOSED) stores in usa to import Asus laptop

Please Close the Thread as its not needed any more

hi, just curious if anyone here knows of a decent store in USA that sells Asus laptops and who will ship to australia.

after recently (and stupidly) selling my $3000 qosmio x500/06C i am now in the market again for another one to replace it with, as i now decided not to go back to a desktop pc.

a member has just offered me his 1 year old Qosmio gaming laptop (with extended warranty) and is considering my offer over the weekend, as the one he has will suit my needs at 1/3 the cost of my previous 2010 model.

in case it does not eventuate, im looking at other options, and the laptop i have been wanting for some time now is one of these Asus NX90-JQ-B2 models that sell for $1644 at amazon, but they dont ship outside usa.

http://www.amazon.com/NX90JQ-B2-18-4...ref=pd_cp_pc_2

they are pretty expensive here in australia ($2700) and because Asus have an international warranty i am considering importing one from usa as they are a lot cheaper, if the price is right and duties/taxes are not too high.

just need to find a decent retailer in USA who ships to Aussie in case i decide to go this path.

any names or links please post up.

i hope you understand you still have to pay things like GST and an import duty because that item is over the $1000 AUD threshold in addition to the price of the notebook and the shipping (the GST and import duty includes the shipping as part of it's calculation). so in the end it may calculate to be not even worth it.

the only way you can make it kinda worth while is if you go to the US and buy it yourself.

yeah i know about all the duties and taxes etc, but i can get one of these asus laptops fot $1050 cheaper in usa for the same new B2 model i want, so im working thru the maths to see what the cost will be, but im looking for a usa store that ships to aust, otherwise i could get the laptop shipped free from the store i linked to over to my sister in laws mum and dad in chicago who will send it to me as a gift, if i have to still pay gst and duties then i guess i will have to.

im still figuring i could still save up to $500 or possibly $600 depending.

if it was any other laptop brand i wouldnt bother as asus has international 2 year warranty.

cheers

i also cant understand why laptops are so much cheaper in usa than they are here, and $1650 on this laptop in usa is just on $2700 here in aust, its rediculous.

it's a lot of factors that go beyond just simple exchange rates and taxes though they do attribute to it.

yeah i know what your saying, but unless asus makes their laptops in usa where there would be no shipping from another country and other such fees, i still cant see how the difference is still so huge.

anyway, it doesnt matter now, im hoping this other member will decide to let me have his big qosmio for the price i offered him or i will just find something else here.

cheers
