I went to 1.6 too, its only for benching and its under water so that helps.

Wow, I can't remember where I got it from (or maybe just bad memory) but I read that the i7's (LGA1366) would fry above 1.55v even if cooled adequately. Well, maybe not fry, but kill itself slowly but surely. I know with LN you would go over that easily but then again those CPU don't last very long.

I dont know were you get your info from, but people bench at 1.65?

Had a i7 950 in a vapochill at 1.51v 4.7ghz linxstable, using that same chip on air 4.2ghz 1.375 linxs stable, Chip scalability has remained the same. As long as you keep temps in check and if your going to run above 1.45 - 1.5v 24/7 make sure its on high end WC, Anything above that is just benching, and for phase dont go above 1.6volts as long as temps stay below zero.

But there has been cases were chips have been stable at certain speed and voltage and then after time they just degrade, But most of these scenarios the user let the actual core temps get past 90c degree for long periods of time.

Also stepping revisions have changed so there could be some improvements in manufacturing process.

Its a very different animal to my 2500K which would do 4.5 on 1.22v. The 2600K needed heaps more voltage at that speed.

It's the HT. Even on the older S1156 and S1366 disabling HT would allow for much easier clocking.

Im just testing my 2600K ES for 24/7 clocks and it seems pretty happy at 4603 1.265v (droops to 1.248-1.256v) without extreme LLC (which overvolts to near 1.3v) and rams at 1909-7-9-7. I will give it the BC2 test later and see how stable it is.

Edit- just froze, I will try some more juice later, maybe 1.25v with extreme LLC ..... its just that dip under 1.25 that kills it. It primed overnight at 1.275v

I am running 1.35v Highest LLC for 4706 and it's stable under full load. Temps low 70s though it's hot yesterday and today.

I am gonna try to tune down to under 1.35v tonight and play around with the LLC settings.

I reckon with proper cooling the 2600K will do over 5ghz comfortably from the voltages Ive seen so far. Waiting for a nice sub 20 degree day to try on air cooling

See these things dont seem to respond much to different cooling, even phase and LN dont help much, mine gets similar temps to yours on water but Im not going to mess with it, at least its quiet. Im getting high 60's priming at 4.6Ghz, but gaming only gets to about 10 degrees less than that (from what I have noticed)

Also, disabling all of those C1E and C6 crap on the MB seemed to really help with stability over 4.5GHZ. 1.35v was crashing instantly at 4.7ghz with all that stuff turned on. Once it's diabled I can p95 for 12 hours!

I also found the 46x multi was the absolute limit without PLL overvolatge enabled, wouldnt even boot. Soon as I enabled PLL overvoltage it would go higher much easier.

Yeah its weird, I never found any gain from it (PLL overvolt) , I could do 53x on my D2 but it liked 51x better. My ES wont pass 49x but its good for 24/7 clocks, where my D2 would clock higher but needed more juice at 24/7 clocks.I hope to try another one soon but the budget is tight (out of work atm ...)

I suspect PLL overvoltage requirements for these CPUs laregly depends on your MB make/model/BIOS. hard to really know without buying and testing a whole heap of diff motherboards with the same CPU.
