I've been looking around for a while now for a motherboard for a new desktop (my ASUS mobo is driving me nuts) and only really have a couple of requirements, none of which I have yet found together on a single motherboard.
All I really want is a Sandybridge motherboard with at least one PCIx16 (if not more), capable over at least DDR3@1600 with one PCIx4 slot. so far I have been utterly unable to find any of the sort, does anyone out there know of one? Thanks!

I assume you mean PCI-E x4? You do realise that x4 cards work in x8 and x16 slots right? Which means there are lots of boards that fit your criteria.

No probs. They are all upwards compatible, x1 will work in x4, x8 and x16. x4 will work in x8, x16 and so on...

Yeah, if you have an "open ended" x4 slot then a full x16 card will work in it, but won't be as quick. PCI-e really is under-rated though, most people don't think a gen 2 x8 slot won't be a noticeable amount slower than a full x16 slot.
Anyway take for example a lot of the new P67 boards with three physical x16 slots, the bottom one usually only runs at x4 though and a x4 card will run in it exactly like it would in an actual physical x4 slot.

Probably better to cut a small slit on the actual x4 slot to allow a x16 card to slot in.
