Default Canon 60D 4x 580EXII and 4x Cactus V5 = No Flash Firing?? Help!

So I bought the above gear, delivered on Friday 3rd June, and I cant get these triggers to fire.
Even with just one cactus inbetween the camera and the flash, and no other triggers and flashes.
All the flash controls are unchangeable, like its seized up.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to change the settings to something to even get one of these things to fire?
Without the Cactus on the camera, and connect the flash directly on to the camera, no problem, everything works. Soon as I put a cactus inbetween the two on the hotshoe, nothing, just a long dark exposure on the camera as though no flash is even on.
Please help, before i throw them against the wall, and buy $1000 worth of radio poppers.

Does the trigger have a test button? I.e. can you make the flashes fire when using that off the camera?

I'd test each flash.

Then setup one flash and trigger, get that working - then add one at a time.

Batteries in the triggers new?
