Default Help Me First Water Cooling Setup

Hey guys considering my first WC Setup and I think PCCG is the cheapest yeha?

So far I have:

Koolance PMP-450S 12/24V Water Pump
Koolance RP-452X2 Reservoir for PMP-450/S Pumps Rev.1.3
Black Ice SR1 240 Radiator
Koolance CPU-370 CPU Waterblock
Tygon 3400 Tubing 3/8

What do I need bits wise and fittings? Links to the products would be great just want to make sure I get all the parts I need first go

Gammods and TKR both have a more extensive range and are more willing to help you out than PCCG would ever be. Sure there are certain products that may be cheaper at PCCG but supporting the little guys means we get more products to choose from later on

The biggest choice you will need with fittings is whether you are going barbs or compression. I was initially going with barbs but after getting some cheap comps off the FS forums I'm glad I didn't. As for 45s and 90s you won't really know unless you plan your loop really well in advance. 3/8ths tubing bends pretty well though.

Don't forget to grab a silver coil or some type of additive to prevent algae & corrosion, That is if you are using distilled water.

My suggestion would be to keep away from Silver, however you will need a biocide of some sort whether in the premix or added to the distilled water.

im currently using XSPC UV blue tubes, and Bitspower fittings, but using 1/2ID stuff.. Compression fittings all the way, they just work so well, neva had any leak issues with bitspower fittings.

using demineralised water and a kill coil, hav had no issues so far

May i ask why you would keep away from silver? I've used distilled water + silver ever since I have been water cooling, And have never had a problem..

And so have many people, however it seems there some argument over whether the silver acts to create a corrosive environment, especially with Nickel plated stuff. There has been extensive posts on it already, and although I'm not 100% sure about it I thought I would give my opinion and suggest any newbie steers clear.

Feel free to disagree if you choose, it's just my opinion.

Fair enough then

Only thing I have ever heard about silver corroding nickel was the ridiculous claims that EK made when they had there corrosion problems.

Yeah some guy (all posted on OCAU) with some pretty impressive technical speak said it wasn't so ridiculous. Something about each metal having a corrosive rating, and if the ratings are too different, like nickel and silver, corrosion starts quicker than normal. It might have been all bullshit but sort of made sense to me. Anyway it still seems weird that distilled water and silver was preferred for so long and didn't seem to create any issues . However the first thing I read about water cooling was not to mix metals. Think that meant aluminium and copper, but can't see why it would be so impossible for silver to also be an issue.

Anyway rambled a bit, and it's just my opinion but I'm steering clear of silver. There are plenty of alternatives.

Galvanic cell. Check it out. Any two metals in a conductive fluid that according to the redox table (e.g. http://hsc.csu.edu.au/chemistry/opti...es/ch954_2.gif) will react and voila! one becomes the anode, the other the cathode. The further away the two chemicals are in the table, the faster things happen.

Seriously you pump is way to big for your need. You are running thin tube too. I would look at 1/2 in or 5/8. Just get the 450.

I would add to that I would look at local watering stores. Check out gammods and koolroom. If you know what you are looking for I am sure if they do not have it they will order it.

I think he wants his build to look decent.
Not like his components are connected by long penises...

Not trolling...

Just saying a big pump like that will not perform as well. It is a small loop.

Sorry if I came up short sounding mate.

I think a straight 450 would be right.
