Oh well, just ordered an Ex240 and will be using them with GT1850's. See how it goes *shrug*
Didnt have anything to compare it with at the time, but it definitely looked like more FPI then the GTX xtreme i have floating around here.

Oh boy...... *facepalm*

I was hoping to make it a silent system and push the GT's down to 1400 or so so they're quieter

Well give it a crack, you can still run high FPI rads at lower rpm's (fan wise) its just not as effective thats all.

Worse case scenario, you sell it and replace it with a XTX or SR1.

Speaking of fans, those Gentle typhoons ive chosen aren't set in stone. They are (relatively) low in rpm so wouldn't be suited to a thick rad like the RX240. I'm still looking for better fans at the same price ($19). Blue LEDs as a bonus.

Looking at what PCCG stock, I can't tell the difference between this one and this one, except the second one pushes slightly more air - different fan blades? Both are $15. I'm going to shop around more before I decide. So much choice!

I'm still going to give it a crack. Might just mean I need to do a push pull setup rather than pull alone.

Yeah, as i said i was having a good look at those and the XTX rads this afternoon when i was collecting some gear from Greig, and it looked impressive with high fin density, i did not measure it.

I think you will be happy with the paint finish and the overall finish on the rad, its a huge step up from previous XSPC rads.

Heck, I might just go with a couple of those silverstone fans. They're more expensive and make a bit more noise but I'm unlikely to hear it over whatever sound the pump makes and they sure look cool.

I made up my mind about the rad. The EX looks good and it's cheaper. So with the cheaper rad and more expensive fans I manage to break even.

Anyway, this is what I've got now:

Gammods
Primoflex Blue 3/8, 5/8 – (2 metres) - $17.50
Compression Fitting G1/4" to 3/8" (5/8" OD), Black Chrome - (x8 = $40)
XSPC Dual 5.25” Reservoir - $57.95
Silver strip - $6.75
EX240 Radiator-Double, Black, G1/4 - $48.50
Subtotal = $170.50

PCCG

Koolance 370 - $85
Koolance PMP-450 - $99
Silverstone 120mm Air Penetrator – x2 = $50
Subtotal = $234

Grand Total = $404 plus delivery

Also updated OP with those components.

Rule of Thumb

Thumb used for regulation
Caricature condemning Buller: Judge Thumb - Patent Sticks for Family Correction - Warranted Lawful!

It is often claimed that the term originally referred to a law that limited the maximum thickness of a stick with which it was permissible for a man to beat his wife.[2][4] British common law before the reign of Charles II permitted a man to give his wife "moderate correction", but no "rule of thumb" (whether called by this name or not) has ever been the law in England.

sorry for the thread crop but this is the original rule of thumb

Slight correction.

The EX rads are 20FPI, what makes them more interesting however is they have double the rows of fins and tubes then all other models of rads.

Thought they were lower. its a completely new design. im looking to buy one as they say optimised for low speed fans not that i have the need for the rads i just like MOAR radiator.

or just a general guide
iirc it's based on the assumption that a 120.1 rad section can dissipate 150w of heat and that scaled well to 120.x
it does not take into consideration the diff between high and low fpi or diff speed fans
it works on the basis of +/- one rad section so it's a bit hard to say it's "wrong"
+1 mate, makes complete sense to me

Geez the sooner I order these parts the better. Done another backflip and gone with the coolermaster fans. They look nicer and are a bit quieter. They also push a lot more air!

I'll probably order the WC parts next week and the case the week after (or whenever PCCG gets it in stock). Getting paid weekly is awesome.

No they dont.

Coolermaster has false values on there fans, they are half as powerful as they claim and significantly noisier.
