Although.. I'm now wondering if its worth it
The picture makes it look like a box with top and bottom being full plates. I bought one recently and found that one of the surfaces is not really there so it does not block the intake fan. It makes sense but I had to modify my design a bit because of this.

Do you need to hold more than three hdds? Cause you could always take the first drive bay out. Other than length there is no reason a psu shouldn't mount on this so long as the fan is facing down. If you do need the bays but only a tiny bit more length I've seen motherboard offset used to separate the mounting plate from the case.

Try putting the mounting plate on to the PSU loose, then insert them both and screw in and tighten the mount to the case before tightening the psu to the mount.

(I have had a v1100+ in the past which is pretty much the same)

Haha im using this case as a File Server. Yes its a pretty stupid idea considering there are better choices but I like the look of this case and was a cheaper alternative. Don't worry I have mounted the PSU in, just looks ghetto imo.

It's a brave idea. That bottom section used to get pretty bloody toasty in my v1100+ when I had two raptors and 4 oldish sata hdds in there. In case you're interested that $400 lian li case now sits in my cupboard because it was a hopless file server chassis. Replaced it with a $100 antec case.

I hope you can make this work for you, just post some pics of your cabling and such when you do.

lapped both my NH-D14 and my 2500k cpu. Only to find that it's peaking at the same load temps.

opened the side casing while running prime, temps dropped 13-ish degrees.

checked the front 2 120mm fans of my Fractal R3 case, found the air filters on R3s work TOO WELL (or my room is just damn dusty). both are covered in dust which is restricting the incoming air.

any ideas on how to fix this little issue esp from other R3 users? or will i forever (till i replace my case) be cleaning the filters on a fort-nightly basis?

Yer I've been told by rob that its a very toasty case if you fill it up with drives. Will defiently post pics of the cable management as an attempt. Hopefully it isn't as ghetto otherwise I will scrap it and buy a huge ass full tower with wheels

Ehh, its always a pain when you've gone to all that work just to get no results from it.

My filters from my old R2 always got dusty quick. I vacuum my PC room & bedroom once a week. Also clean my desk & electronics once a week. Those filters fill up quickly. At least they do the job, just do more checkups then you plan to
