Default Best Method for connecting MacBook Pro to Dell U2711 LCD?

Ok I've just bought a new Dell U2711 this morning, taking advantage of the 30% off, to replace my Dell 2407... will be a nice upgrade...

Now the U2711 has DisplayPort connectivity so I'm wondering what the best method for connecting my MacBook Pro to new screen will be... I'm currently using a Apple MiniDP to DVI convertor to connect to my 2407, so I'm wondering if I stick with DVI or if DP will offer any benefits (I guess smaller cable would be nice...) I'm guessing I would have to get a miniDP to DP cable too...

Also wondering if I can use the Single DVI connection and still get the max res 2560x1440?

Single DVI maxes at 1920x1200.
Using a miniDP-DP cable ought to be the best.

Any suggestions where the best/cheapest place to get one from?
