Our guild the Ausmonuats are still playing and a few new aussie guilds have popped up.

personally i dont agree with a lot of the changes that have been made, so playing TOR now.

I tried to start back up again a few weeks ago, but ground combat sucks so much and I remembered how much I hate heavily instanced MMO's that Cryptic love to use.

My friend got me to play whilst I went to visit him on holiday.

Though I did like the amount of customisation you can do for your character's appearance, unfortunately it was outweighed by the feel of lack-of-engagement the tutorial felt. I got as far as beaming to the 1st planet after the tutorial flight + rescue mission from the borg attack tutorial, but then lost enthusiasm to continue.

Realising the makers of the game are the same as who made City of Heroes, it summed up my opinion that the feel and mechanics of it felt too cartoony and stiff.

By realism, I know I only effectively played 2 seconds worth compared to how much the game provides, and knowing it gets fun AFTER the tutorial, I just had the impression it was overall "meh".

I don't think I'll continue playing...

I saw someone buy a box edition of this game today.

When he exited the store i asked him if he knew the game was free to play?

He went and got a refund.

It really doesn't get any better after the tutorial.

The biggest problem with the game is that it's just not Star Trek. It's a sci-fi combat MMO with Star Trek naming conventions tacked on.

My friend is a huge Star Trek nerd to the point where he can name the ship designation numbers... on ALL SHUTTLE PODS! He bought a life-time subscription before it even came out. He played it for about three months when it first came out and has been logging on for a few hours every month or so since and every time he does, he comes back and says, "Nope, it's still shit."
