I have been running my EK pump for a few weeks now and its excellent, I am planning to sell it soon because I need the space at the base on the case so I have no choice but to get a bay res

Everyone has an opinion on these things, take a risk on one, $50 wasted on a pump is no biggie if its crap or just pay for a D5, I have not heard many bad things about them at all

Get the D5. Most used pump on these forums (I dare say), not one foul word used in the same sentence as the D5.

The $50 you save can be spent getting a pump top for the D5.

they are about the same when it comes to "bestness" some things are just moar best than others
d5s moar common and moar reliable
ddc is moar compact and moar warm

my D5 lasted about a week before it turned into a tractor powered lawnmower.

Swapped to an EK DCP4.0, have not looked back. i've only had to top up my system with the dcp4.0... 2 maybe 3 times since i put it all in? the D5 i was doing it monthly. it cracked two of my o-rings each month from pressure buildup or something.

seen them blow off a pump top but that was due to a faulty thread on the top.

Was about two years back, so I dont unfortunately. I have the pump somewhere in storage I think. The impeller inside the pump grinded itself out, so the hole was about 3mm thicker then what it should of been. I came home after work one day and I could hear the pump from outside my house. I thought someone was running a lawn mower inside my lounge room when I heard it. If I find it I'll upload some shots.
