Default RAAF Pearce Air show 2012

The b-52 flyover was amazing.
It was like you see in the old movies, with it flying towards you with the jet exhaust smoke billowing out behind it.

I can't believe how quickly that Globe Master stopped after landing.

Despite the traffic in and out, it was awesome.

The sound from all these machines is worth it alone.

First and last are the best ones for me.
I was thinking they were at a faster shutter speed because they're nice and sharp.

I used 1/500 and 1/640 today.
I think the sharpness was due to luck, IS and some PP sharpening.
And some cropping.

It's quite hard to keep up with something with shaky hands or travelling nearly 1000kph.

I believe the B-52 was flying at 500m.

Because it was afternoon the sun was a factor looking north as the runway runs north to south.

I'll share a few of mine as well, but I have learnt I will need a bigger lens next time.

The only PP on this is sharpening.
No cropping.
How lucky was that shot.

Might sound weird, but nothing gives me a boner like an FA-18. Nothing else has, and never will. Where's my box of tissues?

I finally sorted through my 300+ photos from Sunday and here are some of the favourites. All photos are from a Canon 400D and 24-105 L @ ISO 100.

Firstly, I can't believe I missed this show! Had no idea this was on until this thread was on the front page . Hopefully next year.

Secondly, @Habenero your shots seem to have a fair bit of noise for ISO100 or is it from something else?

It's combination of cropping (105mm lens) and high jpg compression. I originally planned to put them all together on the page, so I tried to make the file size as small as possible. Then because of the number of shots, I thought thumbnails (and OCAU hosting) were a better idea, but I couldn't be bothered redoing them.

Here are some hi-res shots for comparison (ISO100):

1. 45mm f6.3 1/800 (1280x853)
