I ran AS SSD benchmark on my drive last night and the read speed was only about 370mb/sec.. Is this correct?

I'm using a SATA 3 marvell controller with MS drivers (not the marvel ones).

Any chance you are able to try an AMD or Intel controller to rule out the marvell one? I've seen marvell controllers to strange things with some SSD's.

EDIT: Was it a clean drive? Or running an operating system?

If they are reliable why the hell not?

With SSDs they are a hell of a lot faster than anything else so as long as i have a reliable SSD i wont care too much about the speeds it has.

Intel ftw.

Try ATTOtool, depends on what write/read sizes the benchmark tests it at. Might be taking an average from a range.

Updated my firmware to R201... got disk read errors, had to reinstall the OS Otherwise it's working fine. Wouldn't mind grabbing another for a work drive

Just installed a 480gb with win7.
Tested with AS ssd & Crystal Disk Mark, seq write is little slower than 240gb as expected, but 4k is much slower at 12-14mb/s. My replaced Corsair f120 was getting 40mb/s and I was hoping for near double that.. weird.

I put a 120GB one in my HP Microserver (N36L) last night and it's performing very poorly to the point where the system constantly freezes/locks up during use.
I was having freeze issues, but i haven't since i updated the firmware earlier today. It seems to have fixed the freezing for me.

Has anyone noticed a high pitched whine coming from it?

I cloned my HDD 2 SSD and was working on it fine until I restarted and then I wanted to repair windows. I didn't have time so I just changed the boot order to my old HDD and didn't look at it for a few days.

I was inside the computer today replacing the CPU fan when I noticed a high pitched whine. I traced it back to the SSD.

Anyone else noticed this?

I haven't plugged mine in yet so I don't know if it makes a sound. Does yours sound like the SSDs in these videos?

No, it's more like the noise that old CRT monitors used to make. Like that high pitched whistling noise.

Yer I convinced my parents to upgrade to an SSD by making them use my comp for a day. Certainly showed them why I vouched for an SSD over a normal HDD. But on topic, these SanDisk SSD's are at an amazing price, would have one for my File Server but I found a Corsair Force 3 for $20 cheaper new. Luck of the draw I guess.

Looks like my SanDisk Extreme is going back for replacement.

Ever since getting it, it's been dropping out, SandForce style - even with the latest firmware.

My 120GB did the same in my HP Microserver, but my 2 x 240GBs haven't on a Z77 platform.

I dont have the link offhand, but there is a reg hack you can do to enable access to the advanced power config settings for HDD, and you can change the options there. (Maximum performance does these changes by itself)

Try changing your power settings to maximum performance and see if that helps. If it does I'll find the link and you can have a read.

Was considering pulling the trigger on a 240 as a laptop OS Drive. Maybe the 180GB Intel is the way to go instead?
