Default TPG's IPTV into XBMC, possible?

It seems we're fortunate enough to have TPG's IPTV on at our exchange, and even more fortunate that being Stinkey-siders, IPTV includes the free-to-air digital transmissions as well. I watch bugger-all of anything, but my housemate whinges whenever there's a game on he would like to watch but can't because there's absolutely zero reception.

TPG's instructions all say you need to use VLC, but that's frankly a dog of a program, so was wondering if anyone has figured out how to use XBMC as the player yet?

TPG IPTV -> VLC server backend -> RTSP Stream -> XBMC stream plugin? (if there is one?)

XBMC hasn't ever really been geared toward streaming from my understanding though. I also don't know much about the TPG IPTV unfortunately.

Read the last post in this thread. It's from 2010 so on an old version of XBMC but should be enough to point you in the right direction:
