I prefer the M3 to the M4 - to me the M3 is just a little more enjoyable to listen to overall, better bass response, smoother mids/treble.

That's how you're meant to wear them. Up and over the ear. It helps remove cable noise from rubbing against your clothing. It also makes them feel more secure, for me anyway. There is a metal wire in the clear plastic where the cable enters the ear phone, you can shape that to fit your head, or some people remove it all together.

Also, tips. The Comply T-100 tips are very comfortable. They get dirty over time so they do need to be replaced. I replace mine every 4-6 months, with pretty light use. With daily use, you'd nearly need to replace them every month. I've lots my flange tips so I can't remember what the comparison is like, however the flange tips did irritate my ears, even though they sounded really good.

Hope that helps. Enjoy your canalphones

Edit: I found this a good read when looking at canalphones: http://www.inearmatters.net/2008/11/...nalphones.html

I managed to snag this deal:
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/69636

Unbelievable sound! I do kinda wish for more bassy sound but at the same time I love the clear untainted reproduction. I find myself noticing so many little details in favourite tracks that weren't there before.

If I hadn't found this I was going for Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 Pro's or the Klipsch X10i... Amazon have the TripleFi's on special sometimes.

I've just decided to upgrade my Meelec M6's to Brainwavz M4's.
M4's = $28 for M4Nations new website special... Looks insanely good value for the price.

Looks to me like they're clearing stock.
Most of us in the shop found the M4 to be just that little too lacking in bass.

Snufkin, what would you recommend for a canalphone that has a similar signature in all areas as the LCD-2s? Looking to spend anywhere from $100 - $300.

The HF5 with a +2-4db boost in the lower frequencies is what I use. Its quite nice.

I've picked up a pair too to replace my Klipsch X10i's that are falling apart after not even a year.

I loved my old Brainwavz M1's, and when asking about a replacement for the X10i's in this thread the Brainwavz B2's were recommended. These M4's are supposedly similar to a B2 with more bass from what I've read. If they're at least as good as my old M1's then at this price I'll be happy!

The M4 is nothing like the B2, the B2 shits all over them.

As it probably would at over 4 times the price. Like I said as long as they are as good as the M1's I'll be happy at this price

Different to the M1 - more clarity and detail, less bass

Ive tried the M4 - horrible! Tinny, harsh, no bass to speak of. The cheap headset that came with my phone sounds better.

Just thought I'd update this thread with my thoughts on the Atrio M5's.

At first, I liked them. I thought they were uncomfortable, but I would get used to them. They sounded great with a perfect fit.

Eventually though, they got even less comfortable. They continually made the insides of my ears itchy, and they would ache from extended use. They're annoying to use in the gym as a result. The small tips were too small, didn't seal properly and sounded poor, and the medium tips were too large and hurt my ears.

So now, I rarely use them. I use my sony headphones most of the time, or my speaker system in my room. Which is a real shame considering I forked out top dollar for something I don't like. I would have been happier with beats IEMs.

The build quality is also pretty poor. The rubber is flaking around the shroud on the earpiece. And the wires feel somewhat thin and the cheap plastic is a turnoff. Can't say these are worth the $200 I paid at all.

I'm thinking about getting some new tips. There are some comply t100 tips that would apparently be better, but $15 for what are considered disposable bits of foam is a bit rich. Oh, and the foam tips that came with the Atrio M5's were total rubbish. Felt like sandpaper and didn't seal properly.

Overall - pretty dissapointed!
