I found the standard paint job unsatisfactory, painting it is actually probably the easiest part. Cost me $20 in spray paint to do all the case, only the windowed side panel left to go and I still have 2 cans of black. I will be building a custom HDD solution for this case so I didn't need to worry about GPU space anyway. will most likely consist of a suspension so as not to cause undue case vibrations. I used a thin layer of foam in between the panels when I riveted the case back together after paint. It's a bit cold now so I had to heat set each coat which was quite possibly the worst part of it to be honest. The cable managment I included I just marked out with my atx board in place on blue painters tape and after stripping the case down began to cut with a dremel,
pro tip: keep your old cutoff wheels they're really useful for tight cuts.
probably could have rounded them off as well but the square cuts seemed to match the original cutouts. I'm also going to do a 2.5' drive mount on either side of the 5.25' bays. simple slide in and slide out.

Just measured the cooler mounting screws and drilled locating holes accordingly in the acrylic.

Its just sitting on top with the screw heads sitting in the drilled holes so it wont move

Ah, makes sense. Looked as though you'd bolted it on with the heatsink screws and I thought that was a little extreme, but it can just sit there, you're right. Provided the case isn't tipped more than 90°, but that really shouldn't happen.

This was before I installed my sound card in and screwed the 5870 in. After that was done, I tucked one cable away out of the side.

Thoughts?

Oh, I"m being quite serious.

I just don't have the time and/or patience to clean this thing up. My case is a nightmare for doing cable management in because it's almost impossible.

Next month when I upgrade I'll look after it properly. I've had it like that for years and it's never been an issue. I don't gaze into the side of my PC wonderingly either. I'll have a Fractal Design Define so there'll be no window to do so, but again, with the new build, I'll like to try and manage the cables in it.

Looks like an old Tt Armor or something similar. Sure, there's no cable-routing holes, but you can certainly bunch them together and run them down the side, splitting the cables off from the group where they're needed.

At the end of the day, it's as much about having a bit of pride in your rig as it is keeping it neat and safe.
