Hi all, not sure if this is the right place to post this but my work has asked me to find some people to help us create the following proof-of-concept products to present to our client.
The first one is an online dietary monitoring tracker - this is for an aged-care environment. The meals that are served are determined well in advance and we have all the nutritional breakdown. We'd like to present the information on a per resident basis so their relatives can log into the website from home and see the dietary breakdown of what the resident has been eating. So in practice, if I put my mum into an aged care home, I would browse to the website, log into my account which then shows a breakdown of mums nutritional intake over a specified time. Ideally I'd like to be able to choose views, for example Iron intake over the last week, Calcium intake over the last month etc. Someone at the aged-care facility would be tasked with updating the back-end database with the meals eaten and the nutritional breakdown of those meals. If someone can create a basic demo of this that we could present to a client in 2 weeks we can pay $500. It doesn't need to tie into a database or anything yet, but if the client wants the service we would pay you more to complete the functionality. I can provide Corporate branding etc for the site. The second one is a menu app for the iPad - once again, for aged-care environment. Many residents have dietary restrictions. We'd like the aged-care wait-staff to take a residents order via a big-button iPad app, but the app should tie into a database of the residents dietary restrictions and warn/block accordingly. So in practice, residents would be given a choice of fish or chicken on a given day for example. The carer would go up to them with their iPad to take the order. They would enter the residents name into the app JANE SMITH and then if she has a fish allergy the app would automatically notify them, say for example by putting a big red X over the fish option on the menu. Someone at the aged-care facility would be tasked with updating the back-end database with the residents dietary restrictions and the dietary breakdown of the meals being served to cross-reference against. Same as before, if someone can create a basic demo of this that we could present to a client in 2 weeks we can pay $500. It doesn't need to tie into a database or anything yet, but if the client wants the service we would pay you more to complete the functionality. ideally, in the long-term we have a view to consolidate the entire process. The resident places an order, it's taken via an iPad app which screens their dietary restrictions, and then the nutritional breakdown is sent to the website app for relatives to monitor. I know the timeframe is a little short but we only need standalone proof-of-concepts at this stage. Any more info needed, just get me in this thread or via PM, thanks. |

$500 isnt enough for something like that. Even a mock up demo would be in the $2k mark.
I do understand what you're trying to achieve though. Maybe get some Uni students to give it a shot and pray they can actually do it within the 2 week mark.

Thanks Soarer, I thought it might be a bit cheap, although I am open to negotiation so hopefully someone might still be interested.

$500 will get you a powerpoint presentation on how it will work (workflow) but not a live demo.

If you have any technical ability (even basic HTML), a mobile app framework like LungoJS http://www.lungojs.com would make it super easy to create a mock. Renders fine on an iPad & a browser too.

I'll be doing some mock-up apps for my resumme and portfolio over the next 4 weeks (Java+sql-db+Android mainly). I may use this idea as a focus for one and see how we go; i'd be interested to see how you go hunting for someone to do this at these figures for commercial purposes. you may have to look overseas
:S ill be watching this one

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'll go back to the department that requested the tool and let them know their expectations are currently unrealistic.

It's not necessarily unrealistic. Its achievable. Its just down to finding the right person to do it. Just unlikely.

Hi all, we found one of our Singapore offices is already using an iPad solution for meal ordering so that requirement no longer exists, thanks to dr1fta for his excellent offer of assistance and apologies for any inconvenience.
We do still have a requirement for the web-based nutrition tracker though. |

To do what? Build it, or a demo of how it would work?
