I have a netbook with this CPU, and I know that it is cable of Speedstep. From numerous sources, I know that it runs at 1.6Ghz, but can't find any information about the speed it downclocks to.
I run Linux on this machine, so can't run CPU-Z(Windows only) to measure idle speed. Can someone with this CPU and using Windows please run CPU-Z to get this value? I think my CPU is running at full speed all the time, because the fan is always on, even when just booting up, or when the machine is on idle. And the air blown out is always warm. Thanks! EDIT: System monitor(in Linux) shows it as an Atom N2600 @ 1.6Ghz, and this speed value never changes, whether at idle or load. EDIT #2: All sorted. "cat /proc/cpuinfo" when the machine is idle: current CPU frequency is 600 MHz. "cat /proc/cpuinfo" when the machine is at load: current CPU frequency is 1.60 GHz. EDIT #3: This CPU actually has 6 steps. 1.6 Ghz, 1.4,.....600 Mhz. 1.6 Ghz and 600 Mhz are the main steps though. cpufreq stats: 1.60 GHz:20.84%, 1.40 GHz:0.86%, 1.20 GHz:1.07%, 1000 MHz:1.50%, 800 MHz:2.06%, 600 MHz:73.67%

You may be able to run cpufreq-info to get that information.
