I'm not worked up? I used OSX as an example because you did? I was just pointing out, that these 'seemingly insignificant pieces of functionality' are insignificant to the operating system. Maybe not to you, but like I tried to point out, to the majority they are.

That's just the way things go, there's no point letting them ruin your day. And in this case, the shutdown button you mentioned, I've made a neato app so you can choose to have it how you like it. So everything works out.

That new language menu/bar the sticks itself down next to the clock is annoying to look at and the removal method is not obvious at all :|

In the past, if you didn't agree with they way MS wanted you to do things, you just did your own thing, and then released the software with instructions that say "Click Continue when This warning pops up". This works, because there was no one single, central repository to get your windows programs from.

Now there is, and it needs to have tight quality restrictions placed on it to prevent dodgy-brothers software showing up in it. If you don't like the way MS want you to do things, then you can still release separately, BUT you can't sell it in the Win8 Store.

I made a newer version of this win 8 shutdown program if anyone tried the last one you might like this one, it runs a little faster and hides the extraction so you only see a brief glimpse of a cmd window then it's gone. But if your PC is fast you don't even see that.

Try ALT+Tab and CTRL+Tab. It's been there since at least Windows 3.1.

EDIT:
For wank factor you can also WIN+Tab it.

Yeah I was a bit confused by that, I thought he must have meant something else, like you can switch between tabs open in a browser or something? I never use Win tab, but it does look cool!

Edit: Apparently Win+tab doesn't work on Win 8 anymore. No big loss.

Just gave that a go, Win + Tab cycles you through the open programs in the list you open by going to the top right hotspot...If you can't understand me, give it a try yourself!

just got around to installing the latest preview, nothing majorly different that I have seen so far.
Overall, im slowly getting used to it.

Will hopefully whack it on my Hanvon B10C tomorrow and give it a spin on an actual tablet/slate computer!

Well you can switch between tabs in a browser with CTRL+Tab. It's worked that way with all multi window programs since msworks/filemanager. Personally I find WIN+Tab excessive, especially with the preview mode on ALT+Tab since Win7.

Isn't the top right shows you the charms menu? You mean the top left? I'll have another go tonight.

Win + TAB will cycle through open Metro apps (with the Desktop being considered a Metro app). It won't cycle through individual apps you have open on the desktop, tho. Which is fine, since that's what Alt + Tab is for

Can you define what is on topic for me? I'm genuinely interested. Because I'm pretty sure if I said something around the lines of "This IS a tablet OS, but it works GREAT on my desktop" (basically the opposite of what I did say), then you'd have had no problem with it.

Windows 8 image depicting one sides feelings... Comments on Windows 8... seems pretty on topic to me, in a thread that seems otherwise dead tonight.
