Got my Raspberry Pi in the mail last week. So far I've printed a case and installed Raspbmc on it. The case design is one I found off Thingiverse.

Video playback is pretty decent but it's having some stuttering issues on 1080p video with DTS. Anyone else having similar issues?

Yes DTS is an issue though it wasn't working previously so it's getting there. The same file with AC3 will work so converting and adding it as another audio track is an option if you're keen to watch it.

A million years ago when I used Windows, I used this:

NFI if it still works on a modern system.

Mine came yesterday but I've been too busy messing with my phone to give my pi some love. Initial inspections of the board show it looks a bit different from the review boards I've seen. Are there different revisions of the pi?

Review boards were a different layout, so no surprise there - when mine arrived, I was expecting to see a mini-USB power connector, and was pleasantly surprised to see micro-USB power!

I ordered a case from https://www.modmypi.com/shop/

I have already installed about four different OS's on it, it's easy to just swap out memory cards and boot something else, but I have settled on hexxeh's build of Raspbian (Debian ARM) because it seems like it has the most community buzz/energy and thus should move along the most quickly.

When the case arrives I'll set up my Pi with a powered USB hub and USB WiFi dongle and use it as an mpd server to play music wherever music needs to be played. WiFi is for connection to remote server with music files and for mpd remote control.

It wouldn't be hard though to put a high capacity SD card in it and make the music local, though control would still have to be done via WiFi.

I am looking forward to seeing the 3D accelerator properly supported so I can then use the HDMI out to render basic visualisations in accompaniment to the music.

So I'm guessing (i.e. I'm too lazy to search out the answer) that the Raspberry PI is on on severe back order considering the used Raspberry PI in that thread is going for more than the retail price?

Thats right. I cant even remember when I ordered mine. Would have been a few days after launch and they both only just arrived.

I have ordered a case from modmypi.com. Going to have a number of sd cards so i can use it for different things. Main usage will probably be as a usenet d/l box for my server.

Had a look at the FishPi and that looks really cool. Wish I had the knowledge to do something like that. maybe later down the track when they become more readily available I will order another to tinker and learn some coding

Scored one of these from a work collegue who doesn't have enough time to play with it.

Installed raspbmc on it. Playback of 1080p mkv videos is quite good. I tested the famous "flock of birds" scene from planet earth in 1080p, it stutters twice and not for long so not bad. Menu performance inside xbmc is pretty poor, i hope this is something that can be improved via code and not a hardware thing. It's a nice toy to play with at the moment, hopefully it gets better so that its a viable media center. XBMC on something so small is really appealing.
