Question Wii repairs in Melbourne

I have a Wii console that was working OK but a child has stuck a button through the disc slot and I can't get it out. I had a go at pulling it apart since it's out of warranty anyway but I discovered you need a special screwdriver to open it, my collection doesn't contain one of the right shape.

Anyone know of a reputable Wii repairer in Melbourne or will I have to send it to Nintendo? If Nintendo is it does anyone know what they charge for a basic repair?

They are easy to disassemble if you have a precision triwing screwdriver.
My Gaming Console Tool Kit that I purchased from Jaycar Electronics contains the correct bit or they are available on eBay as a screwdriver.

Hey thanks for the link, it's a cheaper source then the local one I found googling (they wanted $8 LOL). For the extra $1 over HK suppliers it's worth it not to wait 2 weeks or more for it to arrive. I've also noticed some kits on eBay that include a + shaped screwdriver but isn't that just a Phillips Head and is it needed for the Wii?

Yes you also need a precision Phillips head driver but they are much easier to come by compared to the precision triwing.

Thanks, I found a similar one on YouTube by Googling but will watch this one too.

BTW your 1st post has a huge white box where the linked clip should be, might want to edit that out

@Hummer,

Yeah that's the one I found, pretty simple process if you have the right tools.

Hi, to insert a YouTube video you just enclose the code part in the youtube quotes

With your example it's -dtC2Veq9HY that needs to be enclosed

I realised I hadn't come back and updated this thread to let you all know how my repair went. I got a Triwing screwdriver from this seller on eBay :-

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TRIWING-S...item23182dcc27

Following the video that Hummer linked it was pretty easy to pull apart the Wii, luckily I was able to shake the offending button out of the DVD drive's slot once I had all the plastic casing removed. Putting it back together again took a while because I hadn't done a good enough mental catalogue of which type and colour of screw went where. Anyway it all worked fine after that, no damage done by the button luckily.

OP, Carribean Gardens in Scoresby do a pretty good job with consoles.

I can't give you a price, but i havent heard anything bad about them.

And for pure irony factor it's located about 400 metres away from Nintendo HQ.

So there's that...
