Default Sonos system

Bought a play 5 for 480 on Friday in sydney. JB Hifi were happy to price match the delivered ebay price from the us but said it was pretty close to their cost price. Setup in 3 minutes. Connecting spotify took about 15 after some hassles getting a password for the id.

It now connect to my itunes library on the nas, spotify and to local radio. control from the ipad. I had a weekend painting and I really enjoyed being able to queue it up and found some stuff in my own collection that I had forgotten was there.

Wife groaned 'not another piece of hi equipment i will never use' but after a two minute demo her eyes lit up and she loves it. Now asking when we will get a zone for upstairs I can see a Bridge and Play 3 in the future.

Yeah sonos is a great system, one of the best if not the best for wirelessly streaming media throughout the home. We have 3 Play 5's, 4 of the non powered zone players running through Amps and 1 powered Zone player running some bookshelves and a sub.

Have a few bridges also, and a 1Tb Music M8 connected to it with a subscription to Rhapsody which I personally love. highly suggest sonos to anyone

What is the advantage of Sonos over the squeezebox touch?

Depends on your purpose. Sonos is a better system. Better thought out, better designed, better quality - in all the ways that Logitech generally make low cost consumer goods that work well enough, at a low price.

The UI and setup for Sonos is also very well thought out, and the free iOS/Android App is a pleasure to use.

Sonos, however, is something that I feel really makes sense when you use it as part of a house system. One unit alone will not show it's true benefits.

The Touch comes with a handheld remote (kind of pointless for this sort of thing if you ask me) but I'm pretty sure they have an app as well. I don't have a lot of experience with it though, so I can't comment, looks good enough, I must say.

After I found out you could hook up Sonos things to your own Hifi equipement my eyes lit up.

It looks like a really cool system. And the best part is that you can take it with you if you move.
