Thanks, BA. I'm weighing up between the Ironheart, 50w EVH and a smaller combo from the Blackstar range, of which they seem to have about 11ty thousand different models.

I can definitely recommend the EVH 50W - I got one a couple of months ago and have been absolutely loving it!

How are the cleans on the EVH? I spent a bit of time on a Blackstar HT Club 50 and while anything to do with gain was pretty damn good, the clean channel wasn't really there. It didn't have the volume on the clean channel and also lacked that real glassy, shimmer that you'd get from something maybe Fender-ish? Blackstar advertise that boutique clean sound but it's not really there. I could live with it though.

There's a clean channel!!!

I LOVE the Blue channel on the EVH (mid gain), and the red channel is obviously brutal, but I really haven't played with the clean channel much...

The Orange TH30 is catching my ear, really great everything amp. Sparkly cleans through to face melting high gains that are still crisp and defined. Put my HT Dual in front of it and it becomes a really versatile monster.

New guitar day. This one was a (crazy) mission to get hold of.
I've been looking for one of these since I got my 1077XL 7string around 2 years ago, with the 27" long scale neck. I saw one shortly after I got that 7 string, but I thought it was slightly crazy to get that guitar as well. A week later I decided I should get it but it was already sold.
I looked around and discovered just how hard this particular guitar is to find. I even asked Ishibashi if they had come across one recently (being a japan only model) and they said

It is bit difficult to fins even if in Japanese used market...
So I gave up and every now and then i'd google search.
Then last week one turned up in sydney. 1000 km away.
Seller wouldn't post it, pickup only.
Long story short, 3 days and 2000 kilometres driving and I went and got it.
it was a little bit dirty with rusty strings and a bit of corrosion on the frets, but really good condition otherwise. Gave it a good clean and it plays so well. I love the long scale and wish 26.5 and 27 was more common.

It's a RG 970XL, the 6 string version of the 1077XL.

Photos.
First open of the case, needed a bit of a clean up

bit of a clean up

With it's big sister

All four of my Ibanez

Nice collection there bluffalo. I really like that 1077xl. Have a question for 7 string users out there. What was it like moving from 6 to 7? Because lately I have been getting really interested in the 7's but I have never played one. I love the idea of extended plating range and the sound that you can get with them.

Not the most exciting Ibanez out there I'll wager, but I'm happy and it's a good starting point.

Hey, looking good!
Definitely a great starting point. I guess the shipping was pretty quick then.

Hard to describe, there's a slight little bit of confusion when you look down and get lost, i remember that, but only for the first day or so. you get used to it quite quickly. Unless you have TINY hands you shouldn't have a problem.

Had more GAS today.

Amp acquisition complete and it's a brilliant thing. The cleans are to die for and the dirt goes from creamy blues to br00t@l chugga chugga metal. That's a 1x12 underneath with a Vintage 30 in it.

Thanks. Yeah, shipping was fairly prompt. Now I just need to start collecting gear for it. :P
