Currently there isn't anything special, hopefully this will change closer to release.

Not a fan of two tone? I actually don't mind the silver/black one. But if there's a pure white one...

No such colour. Red or blue at launch. At least Euro gets the silver one.

Yes there is such a colour, it's currently Japan only. It's only a matter of time before we get more options.

I really want to play kingdom hearts 3ds when it comes out next week and theathrythm final fantasy so I put a red 3DS on layby at the Kmart toy sale... But the more i looked at the 3DS XL the more I was convinced to wait a month... One thing I have heard which kinda worries me is that the XL won't be coming with a charger

I'm hoping if that's true that jb or eb will have a deal with an accessory pack which includes one...

It's an annoying omission as I don't have a 3ds or a DS/DSi/DSi XL so I don't have a charger

You can buy a AC charger or a USB charger for around $3 including postage on ebay. That's what myself and the wife used for our US models

Yeah I think no charger was just for japan. Seems ridiculous but I suppose with the sales of DSi and 3DS there there's likely very few people that want one that don't have 2 chargers sitting at home already. You could make the packaging pretty small if you took out the charger.

Ok so as we all know this is coming out on Thursday! WOO so I've been doing a little searching...

JB Hi Fi - $249 console only
EB Games - $249 Console only
Harvey Norman - Not listed
Kmart - Not listed
Dick Smith - $249 comes with either a remote control mario or Rayman game
also standalone console is $239

3DS Alone

3DS with Rayman

3DS with radio control Mario

Big W - still have the $248 deal with Monkey Ball

Target - $259 and comes with Rayman and Combat of Dinosaurs 3D
3DS with 2x Games

or $259 and comes with Rayman and Ghost Recon
3DS Option 2

Looking at that it would appear the best value would be the target deal. The Dinosaurs game probably sucks but Rayman is good and Ghost Recon wouldn't be too bad either. It's by far a better choice than EB/JB who for $10 less you only get the console... I think I better look into cancelling my pre-order heh

doah.. I pre-ordered the big w deal on the weekend only to notice that it says its available on the 28th Aug...Everyone else says its available on the 23rd..

Ok just doing some more searching. It would appear JB have lowered their price on the console.

They have it for $229 now

JB Console Only

EB's price remains unchanged which means i'm going to call my EB store tomorrow and ask if they'll price match on release day. If not i'm going in to cancel my pre-order. I'm not going to pay $20 or $30 extra when I can get the same thing elsewhere. Typical that EB is more expensive than everywhere else

Until there are some decent titles (that I am interested in) I won't be making the mistake of buying one. *looks at 3DS that was used to play one game gathering dust*

If you already have a regular 3DS then there really isn't too much point in upgrading anyway since the console is exactly the same. The only difference is the screens are bigger, it's been slightly redesigned (though nothing major) and the battery has been improved. If I already had a 3DS I wouldn't be looking at getting the XL but as I don't and there are games I want to play on the 3DS now that's why i'm now looking to get one. I also figure I might as well get the one with the bigger screens since the 3D effect apparantly works better on them. That and improved battery life is always a bonus.

I did used to own an Aqua 3DS which I sold to get a vita (what a mistake that was. The Vita has nothing worth playing on it at the moment and nothing on the horizon either -_-) and the materials used to make that one even though they looked pretty seemed to be cheap. My 3DS used to drive me insane as when you were playing it, the damn thing would squeek and drive me crazy. To the point where I didn't want to play my 3DS as the noise drove me insane...
