Default 'Doomsday' Virus to hit on Monday

Not sure if this has been posted before:

http://www.news.com.au/technology/in...-1226418741284

It contains an official Aus Govt link to check your machine for this virus before Monday.

Why do you get your tech news from a celebrity gossip site?

Well, yes and no. The virus changes people's DNS settings so their internet connection goes via a server run by the bad guys.
The FBI shut the bad guys down and put a temporary server in to keep the infected people's connections working. They are now turning that server off, as affected people should have had time to put their DNS back to normal.

I'm struggling to see a down side to thousands of machines owned by people who don't know how to use them suddenly going away from the internet.

All viruses should end this way.

Considering the type of users who would be affected (effected?) by this, and the fact that it's going to happen on one set day, come Monday the shit's really going to hit the fan at ISP level 1 helpdesks.

*shudder*
