So work has this new device policy currently only for IOS devices. I need to get an Android device and see what we can do in regards to setting up policies etc.
Bow as this will be purely my device, I want and need the following: The ability to upgrade to Android 4.4 Jellybean - why would I buy a device and then have to buy another one to get the latest OS, if Apple can port IOS over to earlier versions of their iPad's why cant Google at least provide more options to do the same with Android. 3G and W-Fi connectivity. Perth just doesn't have decent wireless saturation, work wont spend the 20K for a decent Cisco wireless solution in our offices, so I need 3G to fall back on and can use wireless were available. Decent storage options, no being limited to internal storage only. I really don't think any of these things is a big ask really, yet finding anything that matches all those two major needs seems to be like finding a needle in a whole galaxy. The Galaxy TAB 10.1 looks like it does most things but is on Honeycomb, why would I buy the latest product stuck on an OS two versions old? Maybe that's the PC person in me, wanting to future proof as much as possible, considering in most cases, a video card upgrade every few years increases the lifespan of most PC's these days, is it too much to ask the same of everything else? Here's what I expect to do: Login using the Citrix connector to run PowerPoint presentations, staff training etc in meeting rooms, via streaming through our projectors - easy to do really, even with some inexpensive third party devices. Use a bluetooth keyboard & mouse or Keyboard with touchpad. That's it really, I'm not one of those Apps downloading types with the short-attention-span issue to match, I work for a living, so having a 50,000 apps library isn't a priority. I don't want a damn USB dongle hanging out the side, I dont want any extra junk to lug around. |

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1? It's running ICS already and I'm sure it'll run Jellybean in the future. There's also the Tab 2 7.0. ICS is also rolling out on the older Galaxy Tabs too.

Highly recommended.
Not sure if you can still do it but Harvey Norman had a pricing error on their website, but I got my TF300T for $476 with the dock/keypad/extra battery in 32gb and White. Friend got a price match at OW for $450ish in Dark Blue. Wouldn't recommend the SG Tab2 , its only dual core compared to TF300 which is Quad core.

Agreed^ the TF300 is the way to go if you need the device now, there are a few more tablets with higher res screens due in the next few months but I am not sure if anything is set in stone for those releases yet or not. I bought the TF300 over a g-tab2 because it offered quad core goodness with the same screen res, and I love my g-tab. Asus is pretty good with their OS updates, they seem to pump them out quicker than Samsung at any rate.

Picked up the TF300 this morning from HN. Had no dramas honouring the catalogue, although that was more the fact I struck a rookie and he just overrode the system pricing.
