IMO it's this all over again.

Not too sure how well this will fare.. you'll get sick real fast of playing shitty phone games on your TV. It's nice to think of a world where you can play games like half life 3, and star wars 1313 on a $99 console for free.. but it's imaginary. You will just never get games as good as those for nothing.

If it does go ahead, they will need some serious games to entice. But as others have said, if nothing else it will make a good media center, if the software exists? Maybe it does already I don't know.

The biggest problem I see for it, is that if it is made, it will be release along side the next gen consoles.. good luck.

I'd also just like to point out that the tegra quad core is a chip designed for phones. There is no way it would be capable of the power the PS3 or 360 CPU's can muster.

I hope this is sarcasm it is seriously lacking in comparasion to any of the 3 current gen consoles.

Well... except maybe the wii

But if they do Tegra 4 and 2GB RAM it will match no problem with the wii and probably exceed it by a bit... but 360 and PS3 is far ahead. But if it's all indie games than GPU doesn't matter - it's all about innovation (which the flashy games nowadays seem to miss).

What does any of this have to do with the OUYA though?

I think only those severely lacking in reading comprehension skills got that impression.

Yea im so keen to get one... $99US
I dont have the coin right now.. but im willing to risk it.. I could always sell it on EBAY for the same or alittle more if it isnt to my liking anyways..
And even if one of the large companys like Asus or D-link or someone build something like this you know its going to retail to nothing less that $200...

So im IN.... putting my $99 in now..

Just need someone to port some indie games over to it... like

The Binding of Isaac would love to play that on TV

I'm certain it will be able to play most Unity titles without much work, I imagine Brian Fargo's Wasteland 2 will make an appearance. Like I was saying before though, I doubt much is going to stop people from playing emulated games

More RAM, more connectivity, more space, not much in the realm of processing power though I guess

Sorry the point was you just won't get amazing games on OUYA, the kind of games people want are funnily enough the ones that cost a lot to make. There are exceptions sure, but are there enough to warrant a console? That's all I'm thinking. If it actually gets made I'm sure it will sell well.

That's not really fair, most average non OCAU people would see those specs and go holy shit that's amazing. QUAD CORE are you kidding me?? 8GB! Woah!

Not everyone understands tech specs.

This isn't to play AAA titles. Its to foster game development on Android.

Its an affordable development platform. The point is to develop, hack, explore on it. And if one likes, make some money by selling some Android games one develops themselves.

The biggest problem I see is that you didn't even read/understand the point of the project!

It's not intended for the PS3/360 audience! Because that's not its target market!

Its a reasonably affordable open console platform for hacking, tinkering, and indie game development on Android. (Since other consoles are locked-down or quite costly to acquire development kits for.)

Why are you so worried about this? Are you some sort of paid Microsoft/Sony shill or something?
...Because the tone of your posts indicates you're trying to steer people away for no apparent reason.

I'm not worried about it? I think it would be cool, and there's tons of people who will want to buy it. I think you are a bit defensive and maybe looked into what I said a bit too much.

Looks interesting.

I figure the XBMC team would jump on it pretty quickly..

My only holdups are the wifi connectivity (ugh) and the low storage capacity. Would be nice to know that there would at least be some way to upgrade the storage capacity, if not also have some way to get a wired connection into it.

Only reason I can see for buying this is money....if you can afford a couple hundred more there are heaps better solutions out there. As for emulating old games - I dunno why, but I much prefer to play old games on the real system. Just feels better for some reason, with the original controller etc. Only problem is I have a huge amount of consoles taking up space haha and have to plug them in each time I wanna play. Worth it though

Yeah I guess its cheaper then buying a $1000 mobile phone to play the games. Also wasn't aware it didn't have a GPU, not even a cheap $5 8600 core.. ell well.
