hey guys

still have this issue, can it be caused by an unstable OS, I haven't reformatted for a while and i have had a new graphics and installed 2 SSD's

also how should i go about reformating the ssd's is it just a simple wipe or should i get a program to write 0's to it.

Looks like it's caused by unstable video cards. I assume you're O/Cing? I'd try winding the card back to standard and/or taking a look at the temps.

Just format the SSD's via windows install but I'd scan them for errors in HDTune first, with a full test (not short, it won't find any)

trouble is the BSOD started occuring after i put the card under water and right now the card does not go above 30 degrees under load, just not sure what is causing the random issues like at idle and just word processing watching videos and such i have no issues just when i start to game it will give me the error sometimes it just blacks out the screen. im not overclocking the graphics card

@linkin

you mean to scan first then reinstall im guessing?

just seems like i cant game at all, could it have anything to do with not enough power?

am using a 850W OCZ Z series

log your gpu - with either afterburner or gpuz etc .. might see it doing something like dropping too low on clock etc.

Does sound like a gpu issue though as i had a gtx 480 sli begin to bsod 116. 2nd gpu was buggered.

i guess ill just start with a reformat and see if that solved it, cause this started to happen right after i installed a waterblock and updated the water system.

whats your clock at on the video card?

Just because it isn't hot doesn't neccessarily guarantee the O/C is stable, pwm components might not be handling it

ive stocked overclocking my whole system everything is back to stock.

I had a card once which when watercooled would artifact and can't hold clocks. back on stock cooler (loud) would hold OC settings fine. Strange as the install was done right, correct, perfect. Maybe the design of the block failed to cool a component of the card which effects performance.

I say its SSD related, flash firmware on them.

that sounds interesting unless the way i applied the thermal pads is wrong, this was my first time doing water for the gpu.

but the gpu i have other people have had it under water, so im not sure unless its just that one card.

also about the ssd.

it seems that crucial has brought out a minor firmware update, some compatibility and improved performance under high stress

UPDATE: seems to me even after a refresh of Win7 and starting to install drivers and such from scratch still getting the 116 error. it seems like after i uninstalled the nvidia driver the problem has stopped but now testing out the newest beta driver, to see if the system will be stable

Ah looks like it's driver related. I had thermal pads installed. Maybe it'd be fixed if I resintalled the block was too lazy.

just installed hdtune after a fresh install of windows, found one error of communication between the mb and ssd.

if this is the cause of a stupid lose sata cable that is fucking bullshit.

Well right now i havent had any 116 errors after doing another reinstall of windows but i cannot use the achi version of sata 2 rather i have to use ide. probably wont make too much of a difference but right now it seems stable enough.

no more random black screens after installing video drivers.
