Default What do you think of my new logo?

I've been playing with the idea of working for myself for a while now, and decided to draw up a new logo for the fun of it...

Originally I started off with a camera lens front element, but found that had already been done to death. Then I looked for human eye logos, that was done to death as well. Then looked at... bah screw the story... here is the damn image:

Self Critique: It's a little over the top in the red department. May be a little agressive for some people. The "Papyrus" font and duo-toned text is a little cheesy.

Anyway let me know your thoughts...

RED is aggressive colour and may make some people turn off. Have you tested it on various colour backgrounds?

You may find it hard to reproduce in different media they way you want it to look. i.e. embroidering, print and icon wise for a shortened version.

It does not scream photography to me. I had to read the very small text to understand what you were offering. At first I was thinking it was a makeup product.

That is my first thoughts..

I don't really understand the font choice. I don't know anything about your business though, what about papyrus makes it a good choice to represent your work?

To be brutally honest I would probably avoid a graphic design business that used papyrus in its logo. It has been done to death and is available on every computer so used by every amateur, I would be expecting something more contemporary from a professional graphic design business representing themselves through their logo.

Besides that papyrus is hard to read at small sizes.

As the guys above had said, also to go even further...your studios name 'Deep Spring' isn't that a beverage? Reason why I brought it up is because my mind thinks of water or soft drink when I see your logo.
Don't really know if that's a bad thing or not though...

Yeah I agree. I am going to change the font shortly to something a little more readable and less gay.

I don't have a studio... yet. I'm still working for the man.

I get the "deepsping?! isn't that a bottled water company?!" a lot.

The name ("deepspring") actually came from an old hobby farm my family had when I was growing up, called "Deepspring" which is out at Cooks Gap (near Ulan NSW).

Here is the logo with different color backgrounds:

I changed the font and got rid of the duo-toned "deepspring" in favor of a monotone color.

I think the white one looks the best.

The font that is used: Papyrus. It is used way too much and just looks homemade. Have a look on dafont.com for some better ones.

Without reading the small text, I honestly thought it was something to do with beauty or makeup.

Of those six, I think the red is the worst, followed closely by the colour to it's left.
I do like the circle object that makes up the iris of the eye but don't like the speckled frame of the eye, just looks like it was done with the spray can tool in MS Paint sorry.

I ditched "Papyrus" for "Futura Medium".

LOL @ the beauty or make up remark.

Yeah fair cop. I'll post new logo design shortly without the EYE.

Just my own opinion, but i like the duo-colour for the text better.

When i first read the mono-colour i read "depressing" and had to do a double take and realised it still said "deep spring"
