Default Collection of Old Cameras (any comments appreciated)

EDIT: i am changing this thread from its original content to reflect the slight change in the thread title.

as previously mentioned, i would like to add some photos of a big collection of old Cameras that my sister in law gave me last night to store away for her while she is sorting out her late aunties estate, and i have offered to do some research on these to determine their value, if any, and to get some of them onto the market for sale if it is going to be worth it.

these cameras belonged to her aunties late hubby who dabbled in photography and were all handed down to him from his father, who was apparently a professional photographer around hobart town many many years ago, and apparently used all these cameras.

i will just add photos to this post as i go.

Camera 1 is a Nikon F2AS camera kit

These type of cameras usually go between $100 - $250 depending on who wants them. Lens price varies dramatically, from almost worthless to hundreds of dollars. Most importantly if you decide to list it in any classifieds is if the camera is functioning and quality of the optics, especially if there's any fungus (looks like spiderwebs) which reduces its value to near zero.

^^^This

List the lens details and few images of the elements wide open with light shining through the back. And you will get the magical numbers on how much they are worth

Nice pickup

Most Nikon Mount lenses are compatible, you just wont get AF on the Ai/Ais models. Looking at your top photo, cant quite make out what it is but potentially it could be some D glass.

ok im going to take pics of each of the lenses and accessories and post them up later today or tonight.

the gear in that case i can tell you is absolutely pristine, to the point where it will pass for brand new, and i can say with all honesty, it would not have been used for a very long time because the hubby of my sister in laws auntie died over 20 years ago and all his camera stuff was found in a box in the wardrobe of a spare bedroom.

i will need to have it check to see if it still works, but finding someone locally who can do this, well thats another story.

wait till i post up photos of the other 6 or 7 cameras she found, they are very interesting indeed, and getting valuations on them may be difficult, but she needs to find a buyer very quickly for the lot, or at least for any that may be of some value.

cheers

Well she can always chuck it up on ebay or just post up photos/models in a price check thread here.

Most of the knowledgeable film guys can fill in the details on what stuff is worth.

As it is with film gear, some is worth a lot.. some is worth not much (for what it is). It generally based around rarity, sort after gear my film shooters, cult followings, flavour of the month or hipster tax.

Well you need to write down all the models and eveything you can see on the gear.

And it really is only worth as much as someone will pay. You see some of those listings up there for 6 months. Which is nice.. if you have the time/space.

i realize these will only be as valuable as what someone will pay, im just showing them here to guage the responses of those who care to post.

at least we know with that Nikon F2AS camera, my SIL will now have an idea of its "potential" worth if she decides to try and sell it thru ebay, and not just accept some pidly offer from someone else who knows the value and sells it for a huge profit.

she wants to sell the lot to a collector just so they are sold all in one go, and that may be an easy way out, but im not sure thats the way to go.

my brother has links for each of the other cameras as he already googled all the camera models, so when i get those i will post them up.

Good stuff.

I meant more as in, you have that whole kit.. dont link it as just a kit post up what each piece of glass is (should say on the front rim of the lens)

Surely some people in here would know somewhere in Melb you could take it too (or similar to group members from the Box Hill market etc etc).

I am sure there is interest, in taking them all? Well it would be certainly a great buy depending on price!

yeah, today i was meant to take pics of each of the items in that box with the name/model on it, but time got away from me.

i have a former computer client who owns the willow court antique centre north of hobart, and i am taking this camera, plus photos of all the others, plus photos of all the contents inside this womans home to show here, and sound her out as to what is the best thing to do, and guage what is any good, and what is not.

Too bad your not in sweden.

These guys seems to be specializing in auctioning old camera gear..
http://www.lpfoto.se/

You might find prices of some simmilar pieces of gear in there, looking through their previous acutions.
the prices are in SEK (Swedish Crowns) but just use www.xe.com to convert prices. Or for computer gear prices in sweden are often just add one zero to the american dollar price.. so might get away with subtracting one zero for price.

Trying to load images to check what some things are, but its very slow loading images from here

Judging by the lens hood on the lens that's mounted on the camera, looks to be a 50mm 1.4 AIS, would fetch a few hundred ($300) i reckon

Curious to see what the top right lens and the 2nd from the bottom right are. Top right looks to be an 85mm or so of sorts and the other prime looks to be some sorta wide angle judging by the focusing markings. More pics please?

im getting the pics and specs of the other stuff in the box up tomorrow, as this is turning out to be very interesting indeed value wise, my SIL thought it would be worth nothing as an old 70's something camera, but researching it today for myself indicates this camera was the Beez Neez in its day.

promise more info tomorrow, and i will put all this up in the australian potography forum as well if you guys think it might help.
