$80 is the sweet spot for that lens normally. The HS9 part is just the lens hood

Hmm from that list, I think the only ones worth selling are the Nikon camera body and the 50mm lens. The lens is definitely not $300, might as well buy a brand new one at that price. $80 sounds ok, maybe $150 if the optical condition is fungus/haze/scratch free.
Also the 24mm f2.8 possibly worth something, but it's not a well known brand so not sure if people would actually spend much money on it. The rest might probably be $10-$30 unfortunately. It's definitely usable but just brand names like Canon and Nikon sell much more easily and are so easy to find online. #12 is a cable release, maybe $5 #8 and 9 look like prism finders, not sure the value. The large format camera may be decent, but they're pretty big so shipping is normally quite expensive for them. Best bet would be to ask a local photo club if anyone is interested. Price can vary between $150 to $500 depending on condition, make etc and if all the necessary bits are included. |

clearly there is a market for the camera, but its finding that market and getting the camera out there. as for the other cameras, well im off to see a lady who runs a huge antique centre and see what she thinks. i think my sister in law will just sell the lot for reasonable offers because she needs to get her aunties estate sorted out. |

That big wooden folding job with the bellows, there is a brass plate on the front there.
What does it say? Also, any other markings around the front element of the lens? |

that old wooden camera also has all the accessories and the black cloth cover that the photographer draped over himself, so it is a complete collection, except that the black lens on the camera is not original, and i think the original may be lost. EDIT: have emailed the photos to the secretary of the hobart camera society as a starting point. Last edited by glenpinn; 17th July 2012 at 11:54 AM. |

If you've got the time (and the inclination), you might want to browse through keh.com to get a ballpark figure. Make sure you read their condition guides to see what nick your gear is in.
And, honestly, as much as I hate buying from those bastards, flogging to collectors (the stick-it-in-a-climate-controlled-cupboard-and-never-touch-it-again types) flogging it to them mightn't be a bad idea. A user might pay $80 for a lens in good nick; a collector might pay $150 just so he knows it's not being used by some filthy pleb who'll, like, take it outside and shit. You might also want to head down to you newsagent and get a copy of the Photographic Trader ($4.95), and do a quick run-through to see what others are selling their gear for in Aus. They might even have an ad for someone who does valuations. If not, check out your local camera club. |

im not going to hold my breathe for too long, i know what some of these "societies" are like, and i know the types who tend to frequent them, and its not my cup of tea based on previous experiences. i also have an ex computer client of mine who i did a lot of work for a few years ago in her antique and guest house businesses, and she is looking thru my picasa albums today to see if she can help. cheers found this body only in that website ??? http://www.keh.com/search?store=came...price=0&r=SE&e Last edited by glenpinn; 17th July 2012 at 2:09 PM. |

IE, don't sound like a complete mug. On the other hand, don't get cocky when you try to sell: "VINTAGE ANTIQUE NIKON CAMERA - Excellent pro Nikon, don't make them any more, clearly worth $8000". |

just an update on the cameras, had one person interested in taking all the cameras (with the intention of trying to see if they work) and she wants to know if we had a $$$ figure in mind for the lot, and im kind of not sure where to go with this at the moment, however i told her she will need to view the collection first, and then possibly ask her if she has a figure to throw at my sister in law, because she would most likely accept a reasonable offer just to get rid of them, and save the trouble and cost of having the cameras professionally looked at, cleaned, tested and valued.
she has so much other shit to sort out for her aunties estate, and she is so stressed out over it, even i have problems getting her to make decisions on this, so the sooner it gets sorted the better it will be, even im getting stressed ![]() cheers |

Pardon me, but have you considered keeping them and shooting them yourself?
