Upgrading some of my components such as Motherboard and CPU, also thinking of branching into Watercooling while I am at it.

As I would have no clue what so ever on the quality of parts I was looking into using a kit.

My question are

Will a fractal R3 mount a 360 rad on it?

How decent are the kits such as the XSPC Rasa 750 RX360

save a bit of cash and get the better version

that kit is alright, but the pump and clamps that it comes with is pretty average, i started on one of those..

You can not mount a 360mm rad in the R3, to be honest, no rad will fit in the R3, its not designed for w/cooling. ditch it and get a better case or go external.

Cheers mate, do they come with decent instructions.

Also I meant externally such as on the back of the case it's self or if possible on top of the case

they do come with instructions but you better off seeing video tutorials on youtube.

The external mounts that it comes with are a little tricky to work with as well.

Here is how i did it with an R2.. Fast forward the video to the end

I'm looking at getting my first WC setup with the intent of using a XSPC Raystorm bundle. My first question is what maintainence will this require? From what I've read so far having a silver coil helps to kill off germs etc but I'm guessing I'll still have to flush out the system once a year? And what exactly does that entale. Without Air conditioning does watercooling still have that much advantage over high-end air cooling in summer?

Currently I have a CM sniper case and will be getting a new M/B I5 CPU looking at a 4-4.2 OC. I will be looking to upgrade my GPU once the new models start coming out. My Case will allow a 240 RAD but nothing bigger.

Inorder to achieve this, will a 240 RAD and a 120 be enough? What differences is there between the basic pump and the expensive pump in the XSPC Raystorm bundle? Is the more expsensive pump really worth the $100?

Thank you for any advice.

Xspc pumps suck and their tubing sucks.

Get an xspc res with d5 pump slot and primoflex tubing. (edit: 2nd links kits pump is good)

Demineralised water and liquid utopia is more popular then silver coils these days.

Are there any guides out there for those of us trying to silence our loops?

I only set my first one up the other day and ther is still a bit of air trapped in the rad. I'm wondering if most loops are 100% silent when it comes to the water but noisey when it comes to pumps / fans or I should always expect water noise?

yes.

depending on the loop layout the water noise should go away after a day or so
u should only hear your fans if they are over 1200rpm

pump and water should be silent

Yeah thought my loop was going to sound like a fish pond when I first started filling it but after 10 minutes or so I had 95% of the air out and it was nice and quiet. The rest worked itself out slowly over the next few days.

My system was nice and easy to bleed.

Default new to all of this

hihi,

i have built my last few pc's myself but i have never ventured into overclocking and the like before, i have been doing some upgrades to my current pc and been thinking about cranking it up a bit to extend its life. in that process i purchased some corsair dominator gt ram which took up more room and my old cpu cooler would no longer fit, i put the intel one back on for the time being but i figure its time to go water cooling and really see what i can get out of it

pc as it stands

ROG rampage extreme 3
i7 950
evga 3gig gtx 660ti
6*4g dominator gt
sata 2 ssd that is about to be replaced by ocz petrol 256g sata 3
thermaltake 800w psu and case

my case imo is not suited to watercooling, its a big case but there really is no where suited to putting radiators etc (Element V)

so thats probably the first thing on the list other than that i really dont know where to start, I have been looking a lot on here and pccg and i could very quickly spend a lot of coin, that does not overly stress me, i just want to know its going in the right place. i am also having trouble working out what blocks are suitable for my vid card.

so yes, i'm looking for a gentle shove in the right direction

cheers Jamie
