Default Mouse Settings: In game vs General Mouse vs On mouse....

OK guys, for some reason i just thought of this...

How does one correctly set up the mouse sensitivty when playing games, because there is basically 3 ways to alter the mouse sensitivity....

1. On the mouse itself via the driver/software: DPI adjustments
2. In the general mouse options in windows settings (Pointer speed)
3. In the game itself (via options>Mouse sensitivity)

Now.... here's where the confusion starts, do all these 3 settings intertwine??

What's the best way of setting it up so the mouse responds best?

Option 1: Setting in game mouse sensitivity to MAX, and DPI to a lower setting
Option 2: Setting In game mouse sensitivity to MIN, then perfecting the response by the DPI on the mouse itself or its driversoftware?

Option INFINITY: Any combination or variation of the 3.....

Firstly disable "enhance pointer precision" in windows and leave the sensitivity in windows alone (as it affects other programs too) - if it's too slow/fast then change the DPI setting in the mouse software, then do game-specific settings last.

I basically disable what i can in windows, and leave everything else there alone.
My mouse is a logitech, with adjustable dpi buttons on the mouse.
So in logitech setpoint i set the 5 levels of dpi available, generally at 1000 2000 3000 4000 and 5000. And adjust anything else in setpoint i feel needs adjusting.
Then when ingame i have my mouse on the middle setting, and adjust the ingame settings to suit that profile. If needed i can quickly raise or lower dpi with the buttons on my mouse.

But that's just how i do it, and it works great.

i heave heard people saying to lower the in-game mouse sensitivity to as low as possible then use the mouse dpi setting to get to the correct point of control, because thats a lot more accurate letting the mouse do the work rather than the games software interpretation...

ill have a muck around tonight and see what different settings achieve

Test it out and please post back what you find. I would 100% agree that the mouse's settings would be more accurate. But i highly doubt the ingame settings accuracy would change from lowest setting to highest.

From what I've heard, you should set your mouse's DPI to highest (or whatever its native DPI is if you can find out), then adjust ingame sensitivity to suit. Apparently this gives you the most accuracy, which makes sense I guess. Not that I actually do it....

That's for competitive gaming, where ultimate accuracy is needed.
