The paint will harden over a week. It dries overnight, but takes a lot longer to actually harden.

Also, leave the floppy bay blanking plates out for the extra sleeper/second hand/salvaged computer look.

i did something similar with an old case for my retro PC, made all the interior red and exterior black. had to do it outside and the paint job came out bad. after the effort of dismantling the case, sanding it all down, undercoats, plastic primer etc i was pretty mad

Too much dust in the air?

Ghetto protip: As long as humidity isn't a problem, painting after rain will ensure there is hardly any dust in the air.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Still gonna go for the giant heat sink idea. Cutting bottom holes today for the three intake fans.

So I've decided on this. Keeps in with the "sleeper" idea, tying in the car theme nicely. I also have a bunch of VZ Commodore "V8" badges sitting here on my desk, I'm sure that they'll be put to good use once I order this cooler.

yeah, then i made it worse by trying to put more paint on it to cover it up, it became too thick causing it to crack when it dried. the rain thing sounds like a good tip

The trick to painting things (unless you really are a pro with proper equipment) is to spray thin coats and let them dry between coats. Thick is BAD

If you use automotive spray (eg duplicolor) which has a thinners base rather than normal household enamel (turps base) you won't have the long drying times and much less problems with dust and drips.

A hair dryer on the object you want to paint (if it's cold) will help the paint do it's thing too.

I'd definitely be doing the 3 x 120mm fan holes at the bottom for intake, just make sure you whack some filter over them, this one for example. Magnetic to the underside of the case where no one will see it, just saves the dust.

Yeah, the fans aren't even supported at the moment.
I will be doing a lot of drilling and cutting soon, and I'll be getting a nice big fan for the front, as well cutting some room for an exhaust fan at the rear.

That or go liquid cooling.

Liquid cooling would be a waste of money on those components. Would need at least a minor update to everything to justify the cost of it all.

New PSU, HDD and GPU are on their way

Also had a dream of melting my GPU last night. It was pretty realistic.. Really need to do more to this build.

At a LAN, just casually NOT blending in with the sea of HAFs and Armour+s.

So I was going to get the Coolermaster V8, but at the last moment I changed my mind and went for the more savage looking Thermaltake SpinQ - VT.

Thing only JUST clears the inside width of the case.

I reckon I used to have that exact same beige case back in the day....probably talking 12-15 years ago now. One of my first iirc.
